Before she even really got in with SVU fans, it seems Paula Patton is already out of Law & Order SVU. EW’s Michael Ausiello reports that Paula, who was originally slated to play SVU’s ADA Mikka Von, got the lead in the new film “Mission Impossible 4” and her SVU role has been cut down to one episode. Melissa Sagemiller – who played an attorney on TNT’s “Raising the Bar” has been case to play the ADA. (Nice casting choice, I liked her a lot on that show.)

(Thankfully, it puts the silly Mikka Von = Novak Kim backwards name to rest!)

how might this affect the crossover for LOLA?
I don't think it will affect it at all. Paula was not scheduled to appears in the fourth episode of SVU and I think the crossover happens in the third episode.
So there will be an Impossible Missions 4.
Cruise and Sumner Redstone have made up.
rotl.
Well good luck to the ADA....
I still liked Bobby Flay's wife and the previous lady as well...
Any of them were better than Sharon Stone...
Good luck to Melissa!
'SVU' desperately needs a proper, permanent ADA! Still liking the idea of Teddy Sears though... but we get a fellow 'Raising the Bar' alum though in Sagemiller. :)
The real question is will Sam Waterston get any kind of role on SVU this year. Would alleviate some of the pain for L&O fans.
It's nice to see that Neal Baer doesn't seem to hold any sort of grudge against Paula Patton for doing this (from what we've read anyways).
I agree that Melissa Sagemiller is a good casting choice to replace her.
IMO One of the biggest weaknesses on SVU for awhile has been the lack of a consistent ADA who can stay put. Especially one who can act (McManus, Stone I'm looking at you two). Lahti's time was iffy, and sure it was nice to have Cabot back for a little while, but the show needs an ADA to stay on for the long haul, not just a stint.
On a similar note, I seem to remember her making a guest appearance on SVU in it's earlier years (season 1 I think), but I can't remember the name of the episode.
Can anybody help me on remembering when Sagemiller appeared on SVU?
Sagemiller appeared on Law & Order SVU titled "Russian Love Poem" from I think the first season of SVU.
Didn't Munch speak russian in that episode?
I just looked up a couple other things on Melissa Sagemiller. In a cool bit of irony, her guest role on SVU was her first television role she had in her career before it took off and branched in to movies as well as television.
So things are sort of coming full circle for her.
