New episodes are coming up for Law & Order and Law & Order SVU. Don’t forget to watch at their new 10 PM ET times! It looks like we will – gasp! – actually see John Munch (Richard Belzer) in the SVU episode "Confidential". Sam Waterston fans, don’t forget Sam is scheduled to make a guest appearance on SVU in the same episode. (I can hardly contain myself.) Here are the details:
Law & Order “Brilliant Disguise” Air Date 3/08/2010 (10 PM ET/ 9C Monday NBC)
WHEN THE MURDER OF A YOUNG WOMAN IS TRACED BACK TO A MEDICAL SCHOOL RESEARCH PROJECT, IT BECOMES CLEAR THAT MORE THAN JUST LAB RATS ARE IN DANGER
After a young woman, Justine (guest star Laura Campbell), is found brutally murdered in a hotel and her body stashed away on a food service cart, evidence leads Detectives Cyrus Lupo (Jeremy Sisto) and Kevin Bernard (Anthony Anderson) to a young medical school student. When a crafty lawyer, Ray Backlund (guest star Timothy Busfield), becomes involved, the detectives realize that it is going to take more than superficial evidence to put the murderer behind bars. This quickly becomes a case of mind over matter. Also starring: S. Epatha Merkerson (Lieutenant Anita Van Buren), Sam Waterston (District Attorney Jack McCoy), Alana De La Garza (Connie Rubirosa), and Linus Roache (Michael Cutter).

Law & Order SVU “Confidential” Air Date 3/10/2010 (10 PM ET/ 9C Wednesday NBC)
A WOMAN'S MURDER IS LINKED TO A VAST PONZI SCHEME THAT LEADS DETECTIVES BENSON (MARISKA HARGITAY) AND STABLER (CHRISTOPHER MELONI) TO REOPEN THE INVESTIGATION OF A SIMILAR CRIME COMMITTED TWENTY YEARS EARLIER
When security cameras record footage of a woman being abducted, it isn't long before Captain Donald Cragen (Dann Florek) and the SVU squad find the woman dead in the basement. Detective John Munch (Richard Belzer) recalls a similar case from twenty years before, sending Detectives Olivia Benson (Mariska Hargitay) and Eliot Stabler (Christopher Meloni) to Sing Sing to speak to the culprit, who begs them to reopen his case and prove his innocence. As strange similarities between the two cases begin to arise, Benson and Stabler face fierce opposition from Ingrid Block (guest star Lena Olin), the pit bull attorney for the main suspect who will do whatever it takes to prove her client's innocence. Ultimately, it falls on DA Jack McCoy (guest star Sam Waterston) to decide whether or not the ruthless lengths to which Block went to defend her client constituted a crime itself. Also starring: Ice-T (Detective Odafin Tutuola), Tamara Tunie (Dr. Melinda Warner), and B.D. Wong (Dr. George Huang).

Great to read about all the new eps coming up on both series... thanks All Things...
Quick question, though. I know we won't know the context until we actually see the ep, but 20 years ago, wouldn't Munch have still been in Baltimore? Obviously he could have heard about a case in NYC, but I doubt if he would have worked on it. I just hope they're careful in how they word it so it doesn't sound like he was in two places at once... just a thought as we're watching...
These all sound like solid eps... looking forward to seeing them.
I had to think about this one, Shelly. From what I can find on the issue, Munch was with the Baltimore Police Dept since 1983 (the H:LOTS series began in 1993 so Munch was already in B'more for 10 years). It is doubtful he would have worked the case, unless it was one of those cases like they used to have crossovers with L&O and H:LOTS where both NY and B'more police worked the cases where they may have connections. Munch also had a connection with Lennie Briscoe (through one one of his wives) so Munch may be aware of some major NY cases. I guess all we can do it wait and see how they tie Munch's recollection of the case into the story - who knows, Munch has been so absent lately it may be a 30 second scene with not much meat to it!
I wasn't trying to put the cart before the horse on this ep, but I was a huge fan of Homicide... although I can't believe it's been nearly 20 years since that show premiered... lol... where DOES the time go?
Just an aside, and I don't mean to get us sidetracked, but does anyone remember the Munch character's history? I know he spent at least some of his high school time in the Baltimore area, because there was an ep based on that during Homicide's run. Was he supposed to be from Baltimore, or had he ever spent time in NYC?
Yeah, if Munch utters more than a line or so, we're gonna be shocked. Does anyone know why Munch has been on so little? Is Richard Belzer working on another project, or is this contractual to save $$?
Just found this blog and I'm DESPERATE! Trying to figure out the actor who played the medical researcher in Brilliant Disguise. I'm overseas so I watch online and NO WHERE is their a full credit list that I can find. Please help me!
