Terrence Howard to Appear on Law & Order SVU

TVLine.com reports that Law & Order Los Angeles’ Terrence Howard will appear in an upcoming episode of Law & Order SVU. (Let’s hope this will work better for Law & Order LA than when Skeet Ulrich crossed over for an episode of Law & Order SVU.) This episode will also feature Diane Neal as Casey Novak.

The episode will appear during May sweeps. You can read all the details from TVLine.com here: Law & Order Crossover Scoop: LOLA's Terrence Howard Drops By SVU!

Now, just have McCoy show up and this will be a GREAT MEMORABLE episode!

Does anybody else get a whiff of desperation coming from Wolf Films? What can we do to SVU's ratings up again? What can we do to get the viewers of SVU to watch LOLA? Let's have a crossover where a disbarred former ADA rejoins the DA's office and have a DDA from LA go to New York to defend a friend's son in his copious spare time. The viewers won't notice a complete break from reality. Really they won't.

I complete agree with Anon @4:56. Bring in McCoy and this one is sure to be at least memorable, even if the episode itself isn't very good.

Anonymous@ 5:36: I don't see how that's an act of desperation to get SVU's ratings up. If they wanted to do that, they would do as what the first Anonymous suggested, to have McCoy come on for an episode, that would be a HUGE ratings stunt. The thing with LOLA is, it's not costing Wolf Films/NBC a huge chunk of money for their cast of that show, so they can afford to do a crossover with SVU. It's different to pay them for a full episode than let's say, Mariska and Christopher and having them on LOLA, then they would have to give them the 290,000 they get for an SVU episode. That is why we didn't see a lot of crossing over as the mothership aged. I personally think this will be quite the episode, and I'm looking forward to his chemistry with SVU's cast.

Mariska and Chris make $400,00 an episode not $290,000. Looking forward to this episode! Casey has always been my favorite ADA!!

Esaul said...

No. They make 290,000 an episode, they're right underneath Hugh Laurie who makes 300,000+ an episode. TV Guide did a special report after the fall season began with who was getting paid what.

If Mariska was to become an EP for some odd ball reason she'd make what Laurie makes (if not more). SVU is older than House MD.

I don't think Wolf is desperate. If he was Neal Baer would have been out of SVU 3 years ago. And @Esaul is right - no way would the mothership and the spinoffs been able to crossover as the shows aged like they can do now w/ LOLA/SVU.

I think that's one reason why we have LOLA, the mothership was getting up there. I notice more fans talk about LOLA/more promotion for LOLA than the mothership. Plus production costs, network costs, cast/crew pay, etc. Wolf was losing money with the mothership if anything. But before NBC had their say I think it could have survived until the 23rd season at LEAST.

And w/ fan speculation; CI is ending and supposedly we'll see Law & Order: CI in Miami (or somewhere low, MIA or D.C.). Production is high for CI now too (10th season) which plays a factor with it ending (it would have been canceled if Vincnet D'Onofrio hadn't offered to come back). The 'spinoff deal' is supposed to be a 'wheel' for D'Onofrio (and likely his producing abilities - he has them).

I'll be tuning in to this SVU. I'm curious to see how Neal Baer intends on introducing her character back and as ADA. I hope Hardwicke (Sagemiller) will still be working too; I've grown to like her.

A 8/11/2010 article stated the salaries for "Drama actors (per episode): Hugh Laurie (House) $400,000+ Christopher Meloni & Mariska Hargitay (Law & Order: SVU) $395,000 (each) David Caruso (CSI: Miami) $375,000 Marg Helgenberger (CSI) $375,000 Laurence Fishburne (CSI) $350,000 Jeffrey Donovan (Burn Notice) $200,000 Nathan Fillion (Castle) $100,000 Jon Hamm (Mad Men) $100,000 Alex O'Loughlin (Hawaii Five-0) $100,000"

I don't really see it as desperation because they have been doing cross-overs between the L&o's for years. Chris and Mariska did a few when SVU first started with regular L&O. Although I do think that LOLA is going to need all the help it can get because it's not exactly on fire in the ratings and now a major cast shake-up so soon can't bode well. I think McCoy really wouldn't excite any new viewers just the people who already watch.

Anonymous@ 7:40 - Not that it matters, but I'd trust TV Guide over a source I've never heard of before.

ADA Carver or bust

Its product placement,in the hope that Howard fans will hook into SVU and continue watching.

Its good business...but doesnt tempt me.

Esaul - just FYI, Reuters is one of the largest bews agencies in the world - highly respected and very trustworthy, maybe even more so than the TV Guide. Many world wide news agencies get their news stories from Reuters.

Esaul said...

Well, that's fair enough, and I guess I shouldn't be ignorant about a source 'cause I haven't heard of it before. My apologies then.

The name of the episode is Reparations according to Baer's Twitter.

Dislike! Put Teddy Sears back on, he was great.

Btw I am now officially 19 as of today :D. (I'm probably making you feel very old, All Things xD)

OMG!! This in unbelievable news. A co-worker and I was talking about SVU and who they should bring on the show. He said, bring Alex back as the ADA. I told him SVU would be better with Diane Neal as the ADA, Terrence Howard as the DA and lose Cris Meloni. Hopefully we'll get high ratings and this will lead SVU to keep Diane and Terrence. Yes, two down and one (Chris) to go..

gahks - happy birthday! And yes, now I do feel very old...I just turned 56 (!) a few weeks ago. (Still feel very young, though!)

Esaul said...

Gahks - happy belated birthday.

@Anonymous - As of now, Chris has no intention of leaving the show. I don't see why he would either, he's getting hell of a great pay outta it. And Terrance Howard's probably not even gonna act as a district attorney in the episode either.

mikefnlogan said...

They should get Charlie Sheen to guest star as a defense attorney sometime.

Sad but true. But he did say in an interview that 12 seasons is enough. I'll keep hoping that he sticks by that and is gone by the end of the season.

Esaul said...

I'm more than certain he's returning for season 13. Both have said they want to continue, and right now it's really just about NBC looking for a new show runner over anything else.
