news that rollins will be back as series regular next season https://www.tvinsider.com/1192330/law-order-svu-kelli-giddish-returning-amanda-rollins-season-27-series-regular/
Yes, I did see later in the day yesterday that Kelli will be back. I suspect having a new showrunner may have helped in that regard.
My general comments: As far as this episode is concerned, I found the description of Velasco as having "command presence" a bit laughable. I know they probably looked for a nice way to explain his character's eventual exit for next season, but I would have rather there'd been another reason for him to be promoted - or simply transferred. The episode story itself was very good and I'm looking forward to see what a new showrunner will do next season - and how Rollins will be reintegrated!
This episode was very underwhelming for a season finale, much like the season premiere ("Fractured"). However, it was still decent, and at least it made sense story-wise.
I'm looking forward to the new showrunner. I'm also thrilled for Rollins' return. While I did not care for her at first, I now miss her after the mess the current showrunner has made (constantly changing squad rooms, etc.).
