Here is the discussion topic for Law & Order, “Look The Other Way” which aired on Thursday, May 15, 2025. Please feel free to add any feedback you have about this episode in the comments!
I’m torn on this episode. If the ending was a way to write out Sam for next season, I shall hereby declare it one the greatest Law & Order episodes of all time! I kid, I kid. However what a downer of a way to end the season. For some reason it brought back memories of season 7, episode 19 Double Down where McCoy couldn’t get the guy for being a cop killer but he got him for killing the cop killer. And as McCoy put it “An irony he'll reflect on when he's doing 40 years at Attica.” I thought for sure that’s where they were going to go. Where Nolan was going to nail him for one of the murders even if he couldn’t nail him for both. Then I was quickly reminded Nolan isn’t Ben, Jack, or Mike so of course he doesn’t nail the guy in the end. My goodness, the whole legal side needs a shakeup. Overall a very up and down season. Here’s hoping next year brings about a much needed shakeup and some more classic Law & Order. Chris, what were your thoughts on the overall season?
@Robert - I agree on your comment about the legal side needing a shakeup. Price has been off and on this season and last; I thought he was finally growing a backbone but after last night, I'm not so sure. He's certainly not up to McCoy's standards, who would have found a way to get the jury to convict. I don't know if Baxter was testing Price to see if he'd compromise his standards or if he would go to "the dark side". What was frustrating in this case, and in the whole season, is that Maroun had a huge blind spot where it came to her sister. And she should have known better than to talk to that witness and that her words would jeopardize the case. I don't see how her working relationship with Price can ever be repaired, and maybe we'll see on of those two - or both - be gone next season, although there's been no word on that. Shaw and Riley make a solid team and I hope they don't mess with that. Overall, I've been happy with Law & Order this season!
Maroun did not look good in this episode. When she started on Law & Order I had hopes we had another Abbie Carmichael on our hands, and now she's gone in the opposite direction. She had no business getting involved once her sister's murder came into play. She shouldn't have even been allowed in the courtroom to watch the trial. She's upset with Price, who is no agonizing over not bending the rules to go after the guy, but SHE'S the one who's in the wrong and made herself look bad. Maybe she won't be around next season, I don't see how she can work with Price at this point or vice versa. Law & Order continues to tell a great story.
Decent episode. I do not really care for Maroun, and honestly, it's her fault (like @LaurieF suggested). I prefer previous season finales of the revival, though ("Open Wounds," "In Harm's Way," and "Black and Blue"). I'm excited for next season! This show continues to be great, and I am excited for more.
