Only three things to say about this episode:

1. The cast is a train wreck; I don't care for anybody on this cast right now.

2. The story was awful.

3. The acting was pathetic.

That is all.

Boring episode. It's frustrating that SVU was renewed while Organized Crime is still under consideration. Organized Crime and the Original have the better season, in my opinion.

Hopefully, the next episode where Mariska Hargitay directs will be better. Disappointing season so far (except for Tunnel Blind, Duty to Report, and Zone Rouge).

Even if I let the rest of the ep slide the last 10-15 mins is where I was feeling like, "Yep, throw away the whole thing."

At this pt it's easier to believe that they are straight up trolling survivors and their allies now. I talked abt this in a previous post but this balance between fantasy and reality needs to occur if the idea is to give survivors hope, or to encourage would-be survivors to seek out the justice system (smthg the show itself says is a key objective). Fantasy/escapism is an argument that can excuse just about any plot point until you start to consider the way the show has tethered itself to real-world advocacy. It's not just a show. If it was, an eye-roll at a lot of this stuff would suffice. But considering how it is marketed then yes I hv to take issue.

Really? They were able to vacate the whole precinct and lower the lights? And then, if you think you've reached your quota of absurd- candles! Candles lit everywhere to set the mood. We are not only in the 21st C but we are in a post-covid world where most are familiar w the many diff ways just abt anything can be done remotely. They've carried an iPad to a vic in a hospital bed etc in the past Why not now?

And why is Olivia forcing this woman to do smthg she does not want to do? The sauntering tone of voice doesn't change the fact that she is strong-arming her.

Years of agoraphobia eviscerated by some coaxing from Liv and some candles? Tying this back to the shows educational claim- this is exactly the kind of thing that doesn't help ppl who are really struggling (regardless of what that struggle may be). This idea that all the person needs is a really good pep talk for their to be this substantive shift. The idea that a heart to heart moment means that I don't expect to see this person in the same mental space again because we already had our come to Jesus (or come to Olivia) moment. Years of agoraphobia, to the extent of being a shut-in, and suddenly she is not only able to leave her home but leave it to undertake smthg like going to a precinct and identifying a rapist?! Then, she suddenly has this swell of warrior energy and wants the perps to know it was her. None of this advances any kind of understanding for what ppl in these struggles really face and really need. So the moment isn't endearing at all. It's frustrating. And as I said, it's starting to feel like trolling. The show could not hv expected this to land as a moving scene.

It's clear SVU has decided to double-down on the criticisms that hv been raised abt it. It's disappointing.
