Another episode and another case of the DA “trading up.” Yawn. The police side of things continues to the better of the two sides of the revival even if some of the conversations between Cosgrove and Shaw don’t seem or flow naturally including the Briscoe like one liners at the start of each episode. What can be said about the lawyer side? Still very little zeal from Price. His ADA is just kind of there. And poor Jack McCoy. Very little screen time with little to do and Jack McCoy the DA just completely seems to forget who Jack McCoy the ADA was. And really Jack McCoy the DA, Seasons 21-22, seems to have forgotten who Jack McCoy the DA, Seasons 18-20, was. Ric Eid has to go or I’m afraid this revival won’t be much longer for this world.

@Robert Nacci - I agree. The detectives are really making the first half of the show so interesting but in the second half, I find myself shouting out suggestions to Price. And Jack's reaction to the cast was unlike the Jack of old. I understand that a bit, as he's in a job with many more political ramifications!

I miss doing the recaps and reviews too. One day I hope to go back but it doesn't look likely any time soon...

I'm the outlier this week. I thought trading-up, in this case, was the right move as Pastor Mike DID order the hit and Price, surprisingly, manage to do okay during trial. And the judge didn't make an absurd ruling! Progress.

I also agree with @Robert Nacci. I've also said that the writers need to watch their own damn show. While I agree that Jack needs to be more politically aware than when he was EADA, even season 18-20 DA McCoy still had the Hang'Em High moments. The pastor ordered a murder! He was clearly corrupt. Any interation of Jack McCoy should have had zero problem going after him. Him bringing up just how tight a rope Price had to walk? Yeah, I can accept that. His outright reticence on wanting to prosecute? Are we talking about Jack McCoy or Adam Schiff? I can understand the writers having him move MORE to Adam's position, we saw that pre-cancelation when he would have to reign in Cutter, but the outright corruption and manipulation of the the church's members by Pastor Mike along wit hthe murder made this a no-brainer. Furthermore, JACK HAS GONE AFTER CLERGY OVER THE SEAL OF CONFESSION BEFORE.

I said it last week: Jack should be a walking encyclopedia of prior cases and case-law, especially for his own cases.

Cosgrove and Shaw? Really liking this partnership. Cosgrove has developed pretty nicely from his first episode. And I liked Shaw from his debut. I do not understand how the writers can do so well on the cop-side and fail so miserably on the lawyer-side.

A criticism on Reddit that I have to agree is the acting on the lawyer-side is... pretty bland. And I have to agree. Which is sad, you have Sam Waterston, who I wish would be in one or two more scenes and Hugh Dancy (who CAN act) and it's like... everyone is sorta sleep-walking through it. Then again, with the writing on the lawyer-side being what it is, I wouldn't give 100% either.

Dick Wolf, please pay whatever amount of money Chernuchin and Balcer want or just beg one of them to come back as show-runner. I know they both turned it out but make'em an offer one of them can't refuse.

But hey, Larence Gilliard Jr. was the defense attorney? Anyone else go, "Yo. String! Where's Wallace?"

The first half no complaints on my part. They've got this part working well. The legal half...that's the problem. I agree with Valens and I would have liked it if we saw "hang 'em high" Jack in this case. Jack does have to worry about political affects from his decisions but when it comes to religion I never thought Jack would care if he ruffled feathers.

I don't dislike Hugh Dancy I dislike how they are writing Nolan Price.
