I admit that I'm pretty nervous about how this "last dance" will turn out, if it actually will be the last. This could very well be darker than "Surrender Benson" was, but it could also end up as a disaster like most of season 14 was.

Can we just kill this guy already? I absolutely loathe this character and this storyline.

@cody- I disagree this season has not been a
Disaster it's not even over yet

I have a big feeling SVU will return for season 16

It's terrible idea to have brought Lewis back they should
Have never continued this storyline after

@Icy, I didn't mean this current season is a disaster; I meant the one before. As a matter of fact, I enjoyed this season more than the past two, although it did have it's missteps.

I'm just ready for this storyline to be over with. Hopefully Mariska & Pablo turns in a good performance so it at least will be worth watching. And Warren tweeted the episode in one word would be called heart-stopping and I hope that's Lewis heart we're talking about. Mine will probably not stop cause I'm just done with the storyline as mentioned.
And yes @Icy - I'm feeling calmer this year about a renewal but c'mon NBC, give us the good news already! (the fact they just closed down my fave site ((sorry Chris, one of my fave sites I should say)) does make me have a grudge so a renewal will be good to weigh up the loss of Television w/o Pity!)

I love Mariska and Pablo, as they're both awesome individuals and amazing, truly amazing at what they do. However, count me in as one of those who feels this should have been resolved with Psycho/Therapist.

A third Lewis ep makes me groan, because it gives the impression the show has to return to a shock value cash cow. Why do that when everyone on the show is marvelously talented? Kelli gave an incredible performance in her ep. Let Ice have a deep backstory ep again; it's his turn.

I absolutely wince when I see one particular aspect of the show exploited, especially when it's done needlessly. The writing staff is strong enough, they can still mine the news for something relevant, while writing for character depth. If they don't kill off Lewis this time, it's really going to piss me off because it will mean they intend to use him as a plot device yet AGAIN.

Move on, SVU Writing Cadre -- you can do better!

I agree with everyone here who is tired of this story line. While they show Benson in danger, we all know she's really NOT in danger because she will come out of it. They've already said Mariska is in SVU for the whole season. I don't see the SVU people pulling out a shocker like Will's death on "The Good Wife" or Carter's death on "Person of Interest". There is NO sign that Mariska is leaving the show so I see no risk to her character here at all. No risk = no suspense. I like to watch SVU but the show doesn't grab me any more like it used to.

IMO, the writers/producers are catering to a younger demographic and the writing is catering to a juvenile level.

SVU is losing it's steam when the most entertaining thing they have left is the Lewis storyline. Season 13 was good as the post-Stabler season. Season 14 was mostly boring, but Barba was cool.

As for Season 15:

Pros- Surrender Benson turned out to be one of my top 3 SVU episodes. Psycho/Therapist was enjoyable. Loved Gambler's Fallacy.

Cons- "Bensidy"
Cragen/Munch leaving
Barba sucks

@laurie, my mom commented on this "catering to the younger crowd" tidbit earlier on this year. Although I've enjoyed this current season so far, there were a couple of episodes that made me not think as highly of the show these days, namely "Gambler's Fallacy" and "Rapist Anonymous".

Petra S said...

No say it isn't so @Cody - those two were my favorite episodes and I'm neither young nor juvenile ;)
I'm more the viewer who got tired of the Benson&Stabler show and love seeing the rest of the cast shine in these last three seasons & I think these writers have put out some of the best work during the entire run of SVU, haven't loved every episode but some have been just outstanding & they've been the ones were Benson wasn't in the main spotlight but the entire cast as well as brilliant guest stars have been center stage. I love my squad, not just the queen.

I can't wait for beast's obsession but for real, they should get this over with a kill lewis. I love his character but they have gotta get this over with.

I too am hoping this will be the end of this particular storyline.

One trip to the well too many I think.

Hopefully Lewis will be dead by the end of the episode and that will end it once and for all.

What? No Barba once again? Raul Esparza is so good- he should be in more episodes. Why can't Warren Leight & TPTB understand and act on this?

Im also with you guys about being tired of this storyline. It's actually not boring-at all but it's the cruelity in it that pisses me of. I really don't want to imagine what he is gonna do this time to it,it just makes me sick and it's not cause of olivia it could be anyone,as long as it is about lewis it's humiliating enough.
By the way, this may sound crazy but i would actually saw it as a possibillity when i heard that lewis will be back for an episode again-that this time he kidnap amanda instead of olivia. Just to maybe first act out his mentally ill mind and also give liv this heavy amount of guilt that she knew he was free and still didn't couldn't protect her partner. Because i study human behavior and psyche right now and if lewis would do that it would be very realistic, cause seriously that's how psychopaths are thinking and working-even worse, hell they are goddamn clever!

I thought that "PsychoTherapist" was enough closure for the #SaveBenson saga. Apparently, Mariska and the writers think otherwise. But?
What possible closure could she get that she didn't get in the premiere when she beat him or when he was found guilty of kidnapping her? I think it was resolved. If she kills him then its kinda the same as her beating him half to death bc she got out all her rage and if it were me, I'd feel some type of relief there and wouldn't want to kill him. Now? If Lewis wanted closure or revenged then this new ep coming up (4/9) would make sense bc he would want to confront her for lying. But that's Lewis's closure, not Liv's. WL says that this ep will be exacerbated and reopened. So ok, she'll have more angst added to her drama while opening those old wounds back. He also says "he saw this ending from the beginning" and that leaves only one logical clue... Lewis is going to die. Now? Does he die by Liv's hands or one of her detectives?
What I'm hearing is... The gang from "Betrayals Climax" (bx9) helps Lewis in some way. He kidnaps a little girl (duh) and uses that to lure Liv. She's put on protective detail so? Does she leave without anyone knowing or is this a tactic to get Lewis? Not likely a tactic since she is seen realistically shaken with the gun to her head. Also, I am like 10000% sure Lewis will not rape her or even attempt to rape her. He likes to take his time and being a fugitive, time is not on his side. So he wants her dead. He's obsessed with her too. He thinks they share some sort of bond.
He wants her to admit she lied on the stand and he wants her life for the little girls life. My gut tells me that Liv kills Lewis but... WL says this ep falls into ep 21 and some say that Liv is injured.
That is all
