Okay. That was complete garbage.

1. Clearly, the writers are criticizing the policy of former San Francisco District Attorney Chesa Boudin. That only works if you HAVE a DA like Chesa Boudin. I ask... have the writers watched their own damn show? Like, Dick Wolf, do you remember your characters at this point? Jack McCoy isn't anywhere near the same universe to enact a policy like that. Now, everyone being overworked cause an increase in crime? Sure, absolutely. But Jack McCoy isn't the poster-boy for decarceration in-universe. I'd maybe buy it more if dude's criminal record crossed over into other counties like Bronx, Queens, Brooklyn, etc.

2. Objecting during the opening statement: Uh... yeah, judge should have probably said, "Mistrial!" and then immediately held defense counsel in contempt.

3. Maroun. This was a weird riff on the season six episode, "Pro se." Secondly, at the very least, the judge should have held a hearing on Maroun testifying. Her being subpoened to testify for the defense while being one of the prosecutors seems like a direct conflict of interest.

4. Price: Yeah, writers must really hate Hugh Dancy.

5. Cops: Nothing good but nothing bad either this go around. They were just sort of there. Did like Dixon kicking out that one lawyer out of the precinct but that's about it.

Easily, my most hated episode of the ressurected series. It really makes me sad, I really want the original series to do well, but I would have tapped out 20 minutes early if my friend and I didn't watch together.

@ValensHawke - We must be at opposite ends on this one. I liked it. It felt like an old Law & Order episode, with the detectives working through a bunch of people to get evidence, and in the legal arguments. Cosgrove and Shaw are a perfect match and they work well off each other. The casting with these two was genius and they'll get even better as it goes along. The interaction between Cosgrove and Shaw on the bail issue was better than the disagreements that Cosgrove and Bernard had which were always tense.

I was wondering about where the judge's head was at. First I thought he was going to fold for the defense but then I think he got tired of the defense attorney's BS tactics. Should he have called a mistrial as soon as she objected in the opening statement - I don't know. Maybe with instructions to the jury, that kind of mistake so early on could be forgotten by the time evidence was presented. It may take a lot more than what she did to call for a mistrial.

It brought into focus for me the NY governor's bail law consequence's. Out of the 3 shows this week this was # 2 for me.
