Here is the discussion topic for Law & Order SVU “Dead Ball” which aired on Thursday, November 10, 2022. Please feel free to add any feedback you have about this episode in the comments!
This one was a miss for me. I felt the guy WAS guilty but I had trouble with the way Benson went digging further to find other victims because she felt there had to be more. If the person who made the complaint doesn't want SVU to follow through with it, should the police continue to investigate the accused or should they drop it? Eventually they did find other cases but those were also settled out of court. At what point does the SVU decide to pursue someone if they have no active cases against them? I need help in understanding where they draw the line - can they only investigate someone if there is a complaint or can they dig into someone's past if the SUSPECT the person is a rapist?
I'm not a sport's fan so every time its sport's oriented i am not that interested i find. I understand what Laurie F is saying but they have to make a program out of something lol. Seemed a lot of effort and not much reward at the end.
The investigations for the last few episodes have been a lot better, instead of them concentrating too much on the detectives private lives. But there still is that continuing forced effort to show Benson as a Victim's Advocate. From what I have been told by others is that it is not necessary, very uncommon and mostly inappropriate, especially with the underage victims without their parents presence. If they are going to have these interactions, shouldn't the victims be counseled by some therapist or shrink. Why does it always have to be Benson giving the victim "it's not your fault", confidence boosting speeches. Shouldn't she take on the same duties as Cragen, Van Buren. or Dixon
