The only comment I have regarding this episode is that so far, I am unimpressed with Detective Grace Muncy (Molly Burnett). I'm not sure if it's the character, the actor, or how they're working her into the story that is causing my negative reaction.

Did anyone else think that this episode had a very interesting plot at the beginning, but when Benson interjected herself into the case, she became too involved with the victims? I thought her talks with the victims should have been handled by a shrink or some kind of counselor. Is this just a convenient way to not to pay for another reoccurring character, or is it just the customary gimmick to give more dialogue to Benson even though it is unrealistic and even more inappropriate concerning the flow of the action. A fellow commentator in another forum, put it best, "Benson as judge, jury, and Governor. She can issue pardons now?". That referred to Benson not wanting to report that Bella killed the father. Even though she probably would have got probation with arranged therapy from a certified shrink, and not getting an inspirational speech by Benson and allowed to walk out with her mother.
@dttruman - I'm in the same camp as you. Too much Benson involvement. What really rubbed me the wrong way was the new detective, Muncy. It was like Rollins was already being pushed out. Now I'm not bothered that Rollins is going to be out soon one way or the other (this has nothing to do with my opinion of Kelli) but it looked like they were trying to make us care for Muncy right away. I would have rather seen Muncy not show up until Rollins was gone. The general assumption is Muncy is going to replace Rollins and I wonder how this makes Kelli feel, seeing what is likely her replacement getting more screen time. I felt sorry for Kelli in a way and maybe that is why Muncy's presence annoys me. The other thing is that after this episode I'm not thrilled with Molly Burnett.
@Laurie F -like giddish getting fired but please stay long enough to train your replacement
@dttruman - That's why I love Jack's 'She doesn't get to play God!' rant about her in the premiere when Benson's actions sabotaged their case. He
is the only lawyer in the L&O universe who knows she is full of BS.
@bjh18369 - I have a feeling that Jack McCoy will never be allowed to guest appear on any L & O SVU episode in the near future and he will never have any conversations with Captain Benson also. But I will be honest, I would tune in to a specific episode of L & O where Benson and McCoy lock horns and they have knock out drag out arguments. The winner of those arguments will be determined by who's shows writers are used. So if the episode is on SVU, then Benson wins, If the show is on the Mothership, then McCoy wins
Have you stopped doing recaps and reviews? I really looked forward to those and miss them! Any idea if you plan to start them up again?
@Sabriel - yes, I've stopped for now. Not sure if and when I can start them back up. I don't have the free time that I used to have!
