Will NBC Replace Meloni and Hargitay on Law & Order SVU?

King of the Super-scoopers Michael Ausiello exclusively reports that NBC is threatening to replace Chris Meloni and Mariska Hargitay if they keep up their demands for more money.

You can access Michael Ausiello’s full detailed story here. Read it and weep, Mariska and Meloni fans!

Personally, after last night’s episode ”Baggage", I could go without Mariska but not Chris.

I will stop watching if they replaced these two. Meloni is my favourite on that show. I read the article and I think Dick Wolf and NBC will regret getting rid of these two. You can't re-tool this show after all these years.

SVU will not survive without Chris and Mariska. I will definitely NOT watch if NBC does not re-sign them. They make the show. SVU is not like the Mothership or CI; it is a world unto itself. Come on, NBC. When Adam Beach came on, he floundered. Michaela McManus couldn't replace Diane Neal. So how in the world will anyone be able to fill Benson and Stabler's shoes? NOBODY. It's simply not possible. Benson and Stabler are the reason SVU is NBC's number one show. Without them, "Bye bye, SVU." : (

Is anyone else wondering if they were using baggage to test run an addition of DelRoy Lindo to the cast?

NBC is a shell of what it used to be. They fact they are considering ridding themselves of Chris and Mariska because of they asking for their fair share is ridiculous. The nets more than made their $$$. If they're thinking about letting C and M go what does this mean for the mothership? They've been doing some wonderful and compelling stories as well. I see us losing all the L&O frachises on network tv.

Now we have mango face Jay Leno to watch at 10. For him they back up the brinks, when he most likely will get a fraction of the ratings that the 10 pm slot gets now.

NBC is useless to me once if they get rid of SVU and the mothership.

I agree....this is all Leno's fault. They didn't blink when negoitating his salary. If CM & MH go I will stop watching for sure.

Leno brings in lots of ad dollars. Much more than dramas over the course of year. However a successful drama brings in millions in syndication and merchandise that talk shows don't. The L&O's can survive at an earlier time but only because they are brands in and of themselves. However, NBC may be trying to hard line negotiate but even NBC is not stupid enough to let these two go.
