There were several comments about this episode made here by games/anti-gamers - some civil, many not. So I decided to delete them all. Everyone needs to take a chill pill; the episode hasn't even aired yet!

If anyone wishes to re-port their comment on this episode, they can still do so; just a reminder that I expect civility and no vulgarity. If you can't do that, expect your comments to be deleted.

When I said this wouldn't end well, I was hoping the end would be after the episode aired.

GG and Anti-GG groups should wait and watch this episode first.
I used to watch SVU back when Christopher Meloni was on the show. I didn't know it was still on the air. Don't these episodes still have some sort of twist towards the end though? Like the reasoning behind the attack was provoked by certain horrible actions or that the rape never really happened but the woman is playing victim for sympathy, publicity or to cover up an affair?

It's good to see SVU using their imaginations to come up with a completely fictional episode premise rather than that lazy "ripped from the headlines" kind of writing that so many of these types of shows use as a crutch.

I for one look forward to seeing what world of fancy the writers have come up with.

Honestly I think SVU's best tack on this would be a bit optimistic on my part - The assault has nothing to do with games or gaming but the convention goers end up assisting with the investigation in some way?

I can't believe this is getting traction when it doesn't even have a misleading promo yet (YES NBC, YOU KNOW WHAT YOU DO!)

In my opinion, it's not the subject matter itself (which seems to me is simply the backdrop), but the people who ditch debate to lash out using gaming as an excuse.

This could turn out to be a very controversial episode of SVU, ripped from the headlines or not.

It could also be an important one since this (the threats against the gamer's real life counter part are real, though a IRL attack has not--yet) has been happening in real life and should have attention brought to it. Not because gaming is bad, but because there are people in gaming that are acting badly. It may help lead to an understanding of who, why and how many. Is it a bunch of kids who don't know any better or some other demographic? Is this a small minority or something larger? A lot of the fear is that we don't understand it, and we fear what we don't understand.

I'm not a gamer myself, but I am not against gamers whether they play Pong or "GTA V" (for obvious reasons, I think we can agree that "Rapelay" is most definitely something we are all against). I even play GTA V myself on a hand-me-down xBox 360 (or a PS4 with the Duke-O-Death vehicle) from time to time simply running amok on the landscape.

GamerGate supporter here.

I'm expecting something as hysterically cringeworthy as the old CSI "Furry" episode.

I don't watch Law & Order (don't have cable or Netflix at all, actually), but I think I'll make a special exception for this particular episode. Because no matter what happens, I can't imagine it'll be a bad time.

I look forward to how they plan to make a Gaming convention seem intimidating or suspenseful.

If it turns out the culprit was the developer all along I will literally leave this planet behind.

Guarantee you that there will be some kinda mention of violation o privacy in this episode like Ice-T's character saying "You thought you could get away with harassing her online huh, too scared to show your face?!" Or something equivalent to it, GUARANTEED. Removing anonymity from free speech is the overall endgame for Anti-GamerGates. They will always say, "if people knew who you were you wouldn't say things online," without thinking twice about what they are saying. You are literally saying that because if people knew who you were AKA DOXED you, then they could physically harm you or your livelihood over words on the internet.

My concern is that L&O:SVU, and Law & Orders in general, usually have a twist to frustrate (or delight) viewer's expectations. There are always 2 or 3 obvious suspects who are proved to be innocent and someone you thought was peripheral is the killer.

My concern is I hope the twist is not that the game developer invented the harassment to hype the launch of her game. That fits a narrative that is hostile to women and I hope the writers don't go for it.
