Here is the discussion topic for Law & Order “Catch And Kill” which aired on Thursday, October 3, 2024. Please feel free to add any feedback you have about this episode in the comments!
Is it standard in a police department for a new lieutenant to come right out on day one and immediately say without any specific reason that she doesn't trust her detectives?
Season 24 is off to a strong start! Glad we got to know what happened with Dixon. Although part of me wonders if in true L&O fashion if that’s the actual or whole story with her character? The dynamic between the new Lieutenant and the Detectives is off to a good start and she’s already had more character development and spotlight than Dixon which while sad is a good thing. I look forward to seeing where her character goes. It was good to see the DA’s out in the field investigating. Could have done with an ME appearance. Could have done without another possible suspect running. 😂 I think they’ve had a runner in every episode since the revival started! 😂 Didn't know how I felt about Sam losing her cool during the case until we were reminded about her sister. Made more sense than. Good fire from Price and he seemed much improved over previous seasons. Glad Baxter is back and his character continues to be as McCoy said “someone with integrity.” Overall this premiere felt fresh. I’m glad that they brought back Bernard and McCoy to ease us back into the series with a sense of familiarity but I wonder with how good the last par of last season was and the good start to this season if maybe they should have just started fresh from the start? It seems like they were stuck between wanting to be fresh and familiar and struggled as a result. Looking forward to the rest of a full season! Side note: seasons 20-23 are now off Peacock. Wonder why?
@Jim - it's probably more standard procedure for the writers to do that to create tension. It gets tiring when in almost every police show the new boss comes in and immediately must assert their dominance!
@Robert Nacci - NBC/Peacock's treatment of streaming any of the Law & Order shows is a complete mystery to me. It would be such a plus to have them ALL out there all the time. I suspect it has something to do with the rights they may have already given other cable to streaming services for certain seasons. But that's just my guess!
I didn't quite understand why they couldn't charge the "news" guy with abetting DV for covering up the videos. I didn't think whatever shield laws journalists have protect against not reporting crimes, at least not when someone is in danger.

Also! Sweet moment between Price and Sam at the end. I would have liked the guy to get his punishment though instead of getting off!
