Man Baxter’s rant about not being the next Jack McCoy, not wanting to be the next Jack McCoy, and not caring how he ran the office or handled the press, on the 500th episode of all episodes, just felt so unneeded and a slap in the face to all of his fans who were sad to see him go. Grant it we have all probably been guilty of comparing him to Jack but they need to let him make the office his own on his own. Not by attacking Jack McCoy.

I enjoyed the episode! I think it would have been better if Sam Waterston/Jack McCoy was in it, though.

I look forward to next week's season finale. I am excited that the original Law & Order is renewed for a season 24 -- I love the show and it deserves it (it should have never been canceled in the first place!)!

I forgot it was the 500th episode. They didn't do much to promote it. It was a good episode, I liked the interaction between Price and Baxter. I do agree that Baxter didn't need to diss McCoy as much as he did. Were the people who wrote the episode not dissing Jack as much as they were directing it to McCoy fans who miss Sam/Jack? I wonder.

I think Price - or should I say Hugh Dancy - come alive with these scenes with Baxter? Finally Price is appealing to me...

Laurie F. I’m convinced it was dissing the fans. It’s been well theorized that Rick Eid, the show runner, had no respect or interest in the old characters or telling stories with those characters or even the old L&O way. I really don’t think it’s a coincidence that the show has started clicking and telling some great stories consistently when Sam/Jack leaves. Don’t get me wrong I’m glad the show is finally finding its stride I just wish it wasn’t at the expense of characters we all loved.

It would have made a great crossover episode with SVU
