I hated this case the first time around. I really think the best episode of the season thus far was last week's.
Hi! Long time lurker finally coming out of the shadows.
I'm glad to see a follow up of this case because the original confesion left me unconfortable, like something was missing or just plain wrong.
Also, is that Carisi next to Barba? What is going on?
@lovelycudy, now that you mention it, it does look like Carisi!
I have seen a few pics of Carisi sitting next to Barba and thought they were just BTS pics but It seems like he will be sitting second chair. How is that possible? Wouldn't it be a conflict of interest?
@ladybug81 - If I recall correctly, Carisi has been going to law school...but...unless he's passed the bar and is a lawyer, I think it would be highly irregular to have someone who is not a lawyer sit second chair. I'm not sure if I've ever seen it in the L&O universe. My understanding of the role of the second chair at trial is to make sure all the information on the case (files, exhibits, etc.) are in order and ready for the first chair as needed, but they also need to be able to step in for the first chair at any time. If a person isn't a lawyer, I doubt they could fill in the role of stepping in for the first chair. If anyone out there has some legal expertise to shed on this issue, it would be great to hear! Who knows, maybe Carisi now has his law degree?
If a law student is doing their externship, they can sit second chair on a case. This gives them hands on experience. It's kinda like internship for a med student.
As far as conflict of interest, I don't see how it is because Carisi wasn't involved with the case as he wasn't with svu at that time.
@HerbaceousHaven Thanks for clarifying!
@HerbaceousHaven: thank you for explaining! And go Carisi!
Who knows how svu will play this out....they could have Carisi passing the bar exam. If he is still a law student then it would make the most sense to me that he is in an externship program. :)
Either way it looks to be a good show and am looking forward to the return of Dr. Huang and Barba for that matter.
It will be refreshing after the last 2 episodes which I didn't care for.
Last weeks was especially poor. The actors seemed to be reading their lines and the writing was awful IMO, it fell flat.
Munch is also returning for this episode!
Looks like Munch may not be in this episode. NBC took his name off of their summary.
Maybe he will be on in an up and coming episode. :)
