Dear SVU writers: if you have a character in danger every single week, we will not care when it happens yet again. Remember how you told us over the summer it was too soon to judge that Noah was just a plot device? Yeah. We were completely right about that. Noah IS nothing more than a plot device.

Thank you @Alex & I agree! I've been gritting my teeth for a while now trying to keep an open mind & not go mental but oh-my-frickin-measles enough with the Benoah drama. Let her adopt the kid & be over with it already. I feel like Noah's been in more episodes this season than Fin or Nick & surely the finale will be about him as well. I'm ready to flip ya'all *grr*

I've been very open about my dislike for the whole baby story lines AND the writers relying too much on "ripped from the headlines" story lines, so the synopsis for this episode really made me cringe!

I also agree! And I believe the mothership had an episode yesars ago in which a mother who refused to have her son vaccinated was arrested when another child caught measles from him and died.

I do vaguely recall the L&O episode but can't recall the name. SVU already did one in April 2009 ("Selfish") that touched on the vaccination issue too: http://allthingslawandorder.blogspot.com/2009/04/law-order-selfish-recap-review.html

I'd almost forgotten Amaro had a son so I'm looking forward to that storyline if only for Danny Pino actually being in the episode.

Noah has been in more episodes than Eli Stabler who was born on the show. I guess the fault in that is two different Executive Producers. That being said, I don't mind the personal lives but I am getting tired of the drama over Noah. It is one thing after the other. Can't we have like 5 episodes in a row in between without something bad, or focus on another family character like Nick's children, Fin's son, or Amanda's sister? Does Sonny even have a family?

Guess it would be pretty hard to come up with original stories after 16 (going on 17) years.

The episode coming up is about Carisi's sister and her fiancé.

I'd be happy not to see Kim Rollins again but we know she's still out there somewhere. I think there's been enough focus on Amanda this season.

We had the story about Nick's Dad and that was an excellent episode and now Nick's son is returning for an episode so even though Nick has been MIA from several episodes he's getting a bit of "personal" drama time. Other than that I think he's been pretty low key for much of the season.

Fin is the one who's been short changed and Carisi but they both seem to be treated as background characters.

As for Noah I haven't felt that his inclusion has been too much but it seems like they will up the ante a bit in the final episodes of the season.

A few positive comments before I start my rant - this will be a rant though to give a heads up to anyone that this might be a good time to stop reading this - I love(!) that the entire squad is in this episode & that we will get to check in on how Gil's doing, I've been wondering about that kid.

I agree with you @Cath T that I don't particularly want to see Kim Rollins back on the show since she had a part in Amanda getting raped & I might actually strangle my TV if I see her on the screen. And yeah Amanda had ONE storyline this season which is sorta the quota of anyone on SVU that isn't named Benson (or might be named Benson) but... and it's a big BUT (not directed at you though Cath T just to make that clear, it's directed at the writers of the show)... she was raped, went to Costa Rica and was cured?? Sorry but no it doesn't work like that. If they don't bring it up at least once more during this season I will be majorly pissed. And majorly disappointed cause it's a laugh in the face of us invested in the character of Amanda Rollins & that relate to what she's been through.
Noah's lungs. Noah's adoption. Noah's biological dad. Noah with measles. And THAT takes priority over a character, on a show that's actually called Special Victims Unit, that has been raped!? No. Not in any other universe other than the one of Olivia Benson would they spoil such a storyline & great opportunity to take a further look at it from a victim's point of view. I often wonder what happens to all those victims that they help or at times aren't able to help. I know for a fact they don't all travel to Costa Rica & come back all put together neatly & with a shinny smile on their face. That's not reality & screw NBC/SVU if they don't follow up on Amanda's wellbeing.
Sorry I know I'm too emotionally invested in that character but I just can't help it. Rant over for this time.

& btw anyone who wants to take my comment & mock it over at Twitter, feel free to, you won't shut me up but I'm willing to have an open & honest discussion about our different viewpoints. I'm passionate about this but not close-minded. & I'm certainly not a bully.

I like Noah but they maybe over doing it a little. Some of the story lines for him I actually like, like his biological dad and that whole situation

@ Petra

It seems that Amanda refuses to be helped on their rape. Olivia tried to help her and she refused. So there is no reason for the squad worrying about it. I see so many stories about Noah. It appears quickly side to Olivia. Not recentemnete saw an episode focused on him.

Sorry for my English.

The writers often take some time to go back and revisit things so anything is possible.

I think there is a golden opportunity to explore the relationship between Rollins and Amaro post Forgiving Rollins & Padre Sandunguero that can be tied into the theme of the show "special victims." Will it happen? Who knows?

I get where Petra is coming from. I like Olivia Benson and Noah has added another dimension to her character but it can get to be too much at times and it does feel as though other characters get short changed.

The next episode will be the fifth one without Amaro. That's a lot of episodes for a main character to be left out of.

@Cath T

I also think the writers missed a lot of golden opportunities with the Rollins and Amaro story. I am a Rollaro shipper, which I know is not everyone's cup of tea, but we are all allowed to have our opinions. I thought for sure after their personal episodes aired the two of them would at least talk about what happened at the bar. It clearly was more than just a fight, and Amaro was always so good about knowing when something was up with her. I was surprised he walked away and it was never discussed again. In season 15, it was clear that he cared about her and she obviously cared about him because she got him out of trouble with the Wilkes case and continued to advocate for him at the start of season 16. From what I understand some of the writers like the pairing and some don't which is probably why it seems so disjointed. I honestly don't even know what's going on with them. I keep holding out hope that they will explain it during the finale. It does seem odd for the writers to not bring something full circle.
