Here is the discussion topic for Law & Order “Liberty” which aired on Thursday, May 14, 2026 at 8PM ET on NBC. Please feel free to add any feedback you have about this episode in the comments!
I don’t know how to feel coming out of this episode. Perhaps it should have been a two parter? Nothing really seemed to get resolved by the end. I had to laugh at Price complaining about the questionable rulings when all throughout this revival they’ve written him to be such a loser losing more motions than winning. I also couldn’t help but stop to think how messed up the Law & Order timeline is. Didn’t Baxter just go through with reelection? And I guess in the line of EADAs we have Stone, McCoy, Cutter, David Haden, this Judge Sullivan, and now Price? I don’t know overall just very disappointed with this season. Hopefully there’s an overall next year!
If I recall correctly, Baxter was appointed to the position to replace McCoy. I think he also alluded to that when he was talking with the judge. As far as the EADAs, I don't know if they can have more than one, so maybe Sullivan was in the mix somewhere? If they can only have one EADA at a time, then I also don't know how Sullivan fit in, unless we assume he was somewhere in those years between when Law & Order was canceled and the recent seasons since its return. As far as Price, yes, he's been pretty weak this season but I think we're given the impression that he's a bit fed up with being told to do things by the DA that he hasn't agreed with. I liked the way the season ended and I think it leaves the series wide open to make some cast changes if they need to in the DA's office. I don't want to see Baxter go though, because I think he's a strong character.
We needed more episodes like this during this last season. I liked the finale. Price finally took a stand and wanted the win, and Maroun seemed to be on his side, instead of acting like a defense attorney all the time. The decision Price made was the smart one - by saving Baxter from making a career ending move, they both survive to fight for justice for another day. It's a shame that Baxter let the BS with the judge go on so far that he had no easy way out. This could set the stage for a shakeup in the DA's office and I hope that if only one of them goes its Maroun. She's been playing for the wrong team for two seasons now.
