Law & Order Organized Crime "He Was A Stabler" Discussion Topic

Here is the discussion topic and photos  for Law & Order Organized Crime  "He Was A Stabler" – the season finale -   which aired on Thursday, June 12, 2025 on Peacock.  Please feel free to add any feedback you have about this episode in the comments!

My take on season 5 – It was better than last season but still somewhat flawed.  The main cast was barely there most of the time, and having that “core” cast was the thing that kept this series glued together in past seasons.  Going into next season, they need to have some form of stability with the "regular" players.  As far as I’m concerned, the character of Reyes has been a dud, and I’ve always been bored with the Stabler family drama.  At least they had a character to be a substitute for the work done by Jet, but not having Bell made the operation feel rudderless.  While Chris Meloni has a solid following, Elliot Stabler (with his family) cannot carry the story each week by himself. Without other characters for the fans to care about as they work a case, the show will risk becoming repetitive and boring.

Overall this season had better stories but it was disjointed. I liked the first few seasons better when a theme or story arc continued through each episode. Once they went to the shorter story arcs, I didn't like the show as much. This season showed some promise - but - agree that moving the main cast off for so many episodes was a downside. It felt like the last half of the season there was only Stabler and the tech guy in the office, and suddenly in the last episode the place is buzzing with people? This has all the signs of them wanting to do this show as cheaply as possible, and it shows. Would I miss this show if it wasn't renewed? No. I hope for all the Chris Meloni fans out there it comes back though.

This season was great. I do prefer longer story arcs, though. Some stories in this season were not completed (like Eli's shooting and fallout, etc.). I hope this series is renewed!

If there's a next season, I would like to have one story in that season, if that season will also have only 10 episodes.

The first two episodes of this season ("Lost Highway"/"Dante's Inferno") had the best storyline this year -- do you agree Chris? In a distant second place are the last two episodes with Emery.

@SH - I think the series DID have a good start and good finish. The middle of that - well, this is where things lost its way a bit. I was expecting a better theme carrying through the season, and it only turned out to be Joey Stabler, which didn't interest me much. It's difficult to get invested in characters when they come and go so quickly.
