Chris Brancato New Law & Order CI Showrunner

Several sources are reporting that Chris Brancato will be the new showrunner for Law & Order Criminal Intent for its final season on USA. Brancato will replace Walon Green. Look for the final episodes to begin airing in April with returning stars Vincent D’Onofrio and Kathryn Erbe!

I guess that's why Walon Green stopped commenting here after the 9th finale.

I'm glad he's gone. I hope Chris B can turn LOCI around for the final season. I thought when he did SVU: Branded it got off track of the main story and missed tons of details.

Not feeling good about this at all....

Hopefully they'll bring back the original Criminal Intent version of the L&O theme for these final few episodes.

I've been watching the reruns on USA...and now I finally see how good this show *used* to be. Getting rid of D'nofrio and Erbe = bad idea.

Well he was involved in the team that produced Boomtown, which was a cop show way ahead of its time and innovative in 2002,where the same crime is viewed from different angles. It was artistically interesting enough for NBC to pull it off air,if I remember correctly!

The market place is only now catching up with that innovative style..especially in UK where several recent productions have been doing similar things.

I wonder if he will be given the freedom to do such interesting things with Goren.

I haven't seen his other work but as long as they go back to the psychological mysteries and keep away from the soapy Warren Leight era stuff, I will be hopeful.

Yeah I know nothing about brancato. Good I guess? It's not like SVU getting from the story and missing details is anything new.

I think it'd be cool if CBV made a one-time appearance as Carver sometime this season.

Still irritated that it's only going to be an 8 episode season. I mean that screams that they either don't have confidence in the material or are expecting crap ratings. Hopefully is feedback is very positive they'll split-season it and a few more will be made. Unlikely, but whatever.

All I know is, this new guy will have to try really hard to be worse than Walon Green.

Here's hoping this means the final season will be a good one.

Rene Balcer > any other candidate.

That is all.

At this point I have no expectations at all. I'll be watching just like I do with any other VDO/KE work, but to me LOCI ended two seasons ago.
