  1. What is wrong with NBC? Now Know It All is pushed back again...Maybe they're re writing some of it to use as a cliff-hanger at the end of S18 (If they do that, there BETTER be a S19...I'm sooo tired of this garbage...Get your act together PLEASE!

    1. According to Julie Martin''s Twitter, Know It All was pushed back again due to unexpected production delays, weather and actor conflicts. They didn't finish some scenes.

  2. This is getting out of hand. It's times like this that SVU should be thankful it's a procedural instead of a serialized show like Grey's Anatomy. All I gather from this mess is that we'll get 22 episodes at most this season and that's if they air new episodes every week from March 22 to May 24 (the protected date for the finale). I'm still hoping that they give in and decide to air Unstoppable during this time. I wonder if this is NBC's subtle way of trying to get the show cancelled. An erratic and constantly-changing schedule will turn people off the show and result in a drop in ratings. As of right now, SVU's ratings are still good enough to warrant a justified renewal. The next oldest show after SVU on NBC is Grimm, and this is its final season. I believe the next one is Chicago Fire, and there's no way any of the Chicago shows are getting cancelled. If SVU gets canned, it will give Dick Wolf time to concentrate on the four Chicago shows, which is more motivation for SVU's cancellation. I'm not normally this cynical but that is where my mind wandered to. What do you think is behind all this mayhem Chris?

@Amy- thanks for the info. That's understandable.

  3. @Ana Andrade - I don't know if things are really screwed up with the show since Rick Eid took over or if it is just a coincidence. The recent issue with "Know It All" seems completely believable. I can see how a production problem with one episode can throw off the schedule. The issue that happened last fall with the two episodes being delayed (and one of them, Unstoppable", apparently later yanked completely) sounds like they suffered from the whims on NBC scheduling coupled with the presidential election. I get that NBC wanted to move that one episode for the World Series as that was such a huge game and they didn't want the advertisers to waste their money. But the "Unstoppable" issue...well, this is what I think signals there is a disconnect with those involved in the show. I heard from several sources that there was quite a bit of angst over the way that episode ended and some in-fighting about whether it was a "worthy" episode to air. Ice-T recently gave an interview to Vanity Fair (I think) and said it so many words that the episode was garbage. Some think the problem is that Rick Eid and Julie Martin don't care. I don't think that is the case. If anything, there may be issues or conflicts with what direction to take the show or the characters but I don't think the recent problems with scheduling is from lack of people with the show caring about the show. If anything, the network may not value SVU now as it did in the past. It also doesn't help that Rick is not visible on social media (at least not that I can see) as much as Warren Leight, and that may add fuel to the theories that he doesn't care. It may be a case of a different management style. But whatever the reason, many fans feel like the show is being kicked to the curb and that those in charge are throwing the show into chaos. The only thing that would calm fans fears at this point is to hear whether the series is going to be renewed for another season. I'd be surprised if we get this news any time soon, maybe not until they approach the NBC upfront in May. For now, the constant changes are making fans feel like the end is near.

  4. I have a feeling that the cancellation of of SVU will be a lot like the cancellation of the mothership: abrupt and classless. Any Law & Order fan knows how prolific Dick Wolf is and I think that prolificness works against him when it comes to cancellations. When Trial By Jury got cancelled, bam there was Conviction. When the mothership went, bam there was LOLA. Whenever NBC has a hole to fill in drama, they go to Wolf. When SVU inevitably goes, Dick Wolf will be there with something for NBC, just not the thing Law & Order fans necessarily want.

The most likely thing to spell the death of SVU in my view is production costs. After so many seasons of being on the air, the staff gets expensive. It's what helped do in the mothership. Even if SVU is still profitable, a newer, cheaper show, even with marginally lower ratings, could garner more income for the network. Personally, SVU is my least favorite of the big three L&O's, but I think its fans deserve a lot better than what happened to the mothership.

  5. The schedule changes def make me nervous and all the long hiatus - I feel NBC is giving it reason to fail- going up against empire on
March 22 -although we've hung in against that show before but the svu diehards are beyond pissed out here in twitter

  7. Whelp, NYC is bracing for a blizzard that is expected to dump 18 inches of snow. *whistles*
I'm expecting that weather storm to definitely hamper filming of remaining SVU episodes.

  8. The last I heard there will only 20 episodes this season. After April 5th there will be another 2 week break (April 12th & 19th) and then the final 5 episodes of the Season will air (April 26th, May 3rd, May 10th, May 17th, & May 24th). As far as a renewal goes we should know by the time of the Upfronts in May as previously stated.
