Law & Order SVU “Motherly Love” Episode Information

Here are the details for a new episode of Law & Order SVU, “Motherly Love.” This is listed as the 400th episode. (NOTE: Episode 399, “No Surrender” has now been replaced by a rerun of “Terrorized”, so the episode count is technically out of sequence. Count me confused!)

  1. Their schedule is so messed up. I don't think they know how to count. This won't be episode 400. How can they mess up something so simple? This adds to my doubt that they will have another season. They don't seem to have their act together. Ratings are mediocre, they go off for months at a time and then come back for a few weeks and go off again. What is their problem?

  2. @Laurie - I definitely agree with you. I love this show but they should just end it this season

I know that they'll be airing Imposter next Wednesday 1/25. This episode is listed for 2/8. Since I doubt that they'll want 2 reruns in a row, there arr several options for 2/1. Option 1 is that they are airing No Surrender and there has been no episode information released. Option 2 is that they are finally showing Great Expectations or Unstoppable, both of which were supposed to air before the break. Since they already had episode information released, they don't have to do it again. Of these two, Great Expectations has a better shot of airing for obvious reasons. Option 3 is that they are airing something completely different. This can be either a rerun or new episode of another show or a special that we don't know about. Personally, I hope it's one of the first 2, with a preference for option 2. Those episodes have been planned for months and SVU doesn't need more breaks, does it?

  3. @Ana Andrade -As stated in my post, they are re-running "Terrorized" in the slot that was supposed to be "No Surrender" which was originally set for 2/1. So there WILL be reruns 2 weeks in a row. No new episode on 2/1!

  4. @Chris - OK. When I first saw the post it said it was Imposter. On my TV guide it says that Imposter will air next Wednesday the 25th, so I assumed that was the one you were referring to. My guide doesn't go far enough to check 2/1. Sorry for the confusion, though I'm glad I'm not the only that is confused. If they are really serious about making this specific episode the 400th, all they need to do is get rid of one of the reruns of 1/25 or 2/1. They can change things at the last minute, so it is better to keep an eye out for news, isn't it? ;)

  5. @Ana - this post wasn't changed, it is now as it was when I posted it this morning. Are you possibly talking about something else you saw? I did post on Twitter the other day that Imposter was going to run on Jan 25 but I never mentioned it here as far as I can see!

  6. @Chris - I'm pretty sure I saw on here. That's so weird. I'm glad you cleared it up for me though. This was the first I heard of a rerun on February 1st. I'll just remind myself to check the guide occasionally for any changes.

  7. Now I'm thoroughly confused! LOL/JK I just have one thing to say & it is, "I wish Julie had accepted the offer to be the new show runner!" Whatever NBC airs, I hope it's SVU & new!
I too, am tired of all this confusion & hiatus's...(Not sure what the plural of hiatus even is!) I miss seeing my favorite show & hope to God they get their act together & get renewed with a different show runner who actually LIVES in NYC & cares...JMO

  8. @Ana Andrade & @Js McFail - I think the schedule changes are making everyone crazy. I still don't know why they are showing reruns on either of those days which makes it seems like the whole thing is out of control! All we can do is stay tuned...

  9. @Ana Andrae in case you haven't heard 'Unstoppable' has been officially shelved. I don't want to add to the confusion but according to "The Futon Critic" 'Imposter' is airing on 1/25 and 'Terrorized' on 2/1.I guess I will just tune in and see which episode is on. Why can't they just air 'No Surrender'(ep.399) on 2/8 and 'Motherly Love' (ep.400) on 2/15? As Chris stated I am just going to stay tuned and see what airs.

  10. Dick Wolf said today (Jan 18) at the TCA - quotes have been repeated by many media sources:

"I don't know when its going to air...The episode is an episode that was written nine months ago, I don't know when it's going to air...I don't control scheduling of individual episodes..." and "I haven't been informed when its going to air, I suspect it will be this spring but I don't know."

  11. What does he know?...I mean I'm more confused now than I was before I read this quote from D. Wolf, Chris!...I guess we'll just have to be surprised! ("OH BOY, I LOVE surprises!" said sarcastically...)...LOL/JK

  12. Although it is probably time for SVU to pack it in, it would be a shame for this messed up season to be its last one. My hope is that the PTB figure out a way to get twelve or so solid, strong episodes in the can for next season, and then let the series die a natural, dignified death. It has been years since SVU was anywhere near the top of its game, I don't believe any of the old brilliance and quality that made SVU a standout drama can be recaptured.

  13. Looks like repeats until 2/8 when Motherly Love the 100th episode will air...Per tonight's show

  14. I read the same article Chris did. Based upon unconfirmed info, some of which comes directly from Executive Producer Julie Martin on Twitter, Game 7 of the World Series screwed everything up, because certain episodes of Chicago PD had to air before the break for continuity reasons. Based upon Julie's tweet last week that the season will have 21 episodes, I suspect, as others have, that Unstoppable has been shelved. I'll keep checking TVLine, and will follow up if I hear anything new.

  15. found out why SVU got rid of Tuckson from article on yahoo tv news. during summer of 2016 Dick Wolf wanted to do an fbi spinoff from svu adding a planted fbi character to the show as a new love interest for benson. its on hold for now due to current criticisms of the fbi but wolf still wants to do this. WTH!!!!! on twitter svu writers room stated that they broke up tuckson cause they couldnt fit in their story line and give their relationship justice. WTH!!!

  16. On a positive, non-scheduling note, a friend and I happened to watch them filming a scene at the courthouse for this episode. If that scene was any indication, this is going to be a really good one!
@kts62- Does "love interest" mean, necessarily, that they will be together? What if by love interest Dick Wolf means that they do some flirting, a la Benson and Voight?

  17. I found a link on Deadline about the FBI story if this helps anyone:

    2. I find it very ironic that they are giving Benson another FBI love interest considering that the last FBI guy she flirted with broke her heart. And that was during the Stabler era of the show.

  18. I, for 1, am a #Barson shipper & think they deserve a chance since they have great chemistry & support from their fans! They are great friends also with no record of 'past bad history' to deal with PLUS Raul & Mariska are already characters & BOTH are single w/o ex's to deal with. (Which would NOT entail adding to the show's budget!)

I also kinda feel IF the report of adding a new FBI character is true MAYBE it's D. Wolf's way of making a segue for Mariska into the new spin off should SVU be cancelled in the near future...JMO

I just hope all this confusion & changes don't kill off my favorite show!

  19. After all this insanity, Season 19 would be required to do this season justice. I personally want Unstoppable to air on Season 18's DVD at least, if it is not coming to NBC. Enough with the canceling episodes and switching around. Next Chapter was SUPPOSED to be episode TWELVE but they turned to episode 7. No more hiatus, it was bad enough when the World Series caused us to wait TWO WHOLE MONTHS for a new episode. They should just air five or six new episodes straight, through at least February 22 or 29.
