  1. I believe this episode was amazing. I am looking forward to the continuation next week! It was suspenseful and emotional. It is disappointing that Rita was killed, but I am glad they are doing this time of the story. I liked the connections made from season 2, as well, with "The Count of Monte Cristo."

So far this season, I'm a fan of "Deliver Me from Evil"/"End of Innocence," and this storyline ("Missing Persons"/"Beyond the Sea") seems promising.

Season 4 is way better than season 3. If the show continues with 2-episode arcs, I much prefer what John Shiban is doing now for it.

  2. This episode was a a little better than most this season. I did like the reference to people in a previous season and I thought it fit well. Maybe there is hope for this show. It bothers me though that I couldn't figure out why Bell and Stabler weren't at the OC operations. I had completely forgotten how the episode ended last week! It did come back to me after a few minutes but the fact that I couldn't figure out what was going on may be an indication that I am losing interest in this show.

  4. I'm having a hard time getting into OC but thought this episode was a step in the right direction. The callback to the previous season was an interesting approach but made me realize even more how much better I thought the longer story arcs were. I suppose I'm holding off on passing any hard judgement either way on this series until it finds its footing. I just worry that it's going to find its footing a little too late in the game and the series could get canceled.

  5. I miss the longer arcs (I prefer them over the 2-episode arcs). This season, though, I can live with 2-episode arcs because it seems more cohesive and more interesting compared to season 3 (which was a failure for many episodes).

In season 3, I only thought that Murphy was interesting and I was hoping they continued with his story, per the cliffhanger, but the change of showrunners possibly prevented that from happening.

I hope this series is not canceled because it has potential, especially if the stories are told in an appropriate episode count!

  6. For me this episode was the winner of the week it was one of those episodes that you were taken aback when it was over. Meloni is so good.

  7. Another great episode! I feel repetitious but this season continues to be the right balance of everything- action, drama, thriller vibes and just the right amount of levity. I found myself cracking up a few times. The scene where Sgt Bell was comforting Stabler on the phone while cuddling the teddy from him made me smile. It was a cute yet serious moment and one that came right after the really intense one of him digging up Rita. Such an emotionally charged scene.

And, I don't know if it's the writing, the acting or a combination of the 2 but I really stay in the story throughout. The characters are who they are from start to finish. With SVU for example I ebb and flo between, "That's Benson - That's Mariska", "Thats Fin - That's Ice-T" Much better immersive experience when the acting doesn't feel like acting

I know this opinion is unpopular but I prefer the shorter arcs. I find it easier to follow what's happening and who is connected to whom and so I'm also finding it easier to be invested. Example, I'm one of the few who didn't have a working memory of the earlier seasons while watching this but it did not harm my experience. The recap at the beginning was enough to catch me up and the story as it unfolded did not require me to hv detailed recall of the older seasons that I honestly barely watched. It's also rare for me these days to not only like a scripted network show but to finish an ep eager for the next one but surprise surprise this ep ends and I feel like the next one can't get here fast enough. Never thought I'd say this abt OC. For me, this season is going great.
