Enjoyed the episode. Legal side a little better this week. Cosgrove and Shaw continue to carry the first half. A nice peek, and not too big, into Cosgrove’s background and life away from the case. Shaw with the line of the night in response to Dixon saying they were back to nowhere… “nowhere adjacent.” Also, welcome back “Hang ‘Em High McCoy!”
The good: As @Robert Nacci said, Cosgrove and Shaw must have buff shoulders by now by how much they carry this show. The argument between Jack and Price about the charge was on one hand was good but...
The not-so-good: Very much not a fan of family being directly involved in the case. Feels too much like SVU.
The bad: The judge's ruling on the confession made no sense to me. The argument about the right charge could have gone better that while the last three defendants of similar age were tried as adults for murder and were black, Jack prosecuted young defendants that were white as adults himself. Should have been brought up during their argument. Missed opportunity.
The relieved: Glad they didn't traumatize the Cosgrove family more with anything happening to his daughter. I worried the would have gone full soap opera drama and she had an empty pill bottle in her hand or something.
This was a solid episode, I really liked it. I'm not much for the family issues but it seemed to fit in very well with the story line so it was tolerable. I agree Cosgrove and Shaw carry the episode. I wish they could make Price more like Jack - take no prisoners attitude. Good to see "Hang 'em high McCoy" too!
