With the constant changes in show runners this season it's surprising they can get an episode out. They can't even name this episode properly (episode 17) or next week's (called episode 18 right now). It shows in the story lines, there hasn't been anything of any depth this season. I wonder if this series is going to get renewed but it it does they either need to commit to the 8-story arc or go into the season with the one story per episode theme. If I know going into the episode it's a one-off it helps me with my expectations.
Could it be time for OC to go away and Stabler get into yet another branch of NYC crime, like Major Cases? We had that with Criminal Intent but that series focused on the perp's background more than a regular major case would. I think OC has run it's course.
@Laurie F I believe "Episode 17" will be a continuation of the story from "Chinatown."
One glaring thing that stood out for me (maybe not for all viewers without prior cultural knowledge) ~ when Jennifer Lee was explaining the gift of white mums that was given her . . . yes, it's true that chrysanthemums represent "longevity and vitality," but you never give WHITE chrysanthemums to a person living --- those are meant for the dead and funerals.
