Jamie Gray Hyder (Katriona “Kat” Tamin) and Demore Barnes (Deputy Chief Christian Garland) will exit Law & Order SVU during the first two episodes of season 23. Season 23 will premiere on Thursday, September 23, 2021.
If the case will lead Fin and Kat "down a dangerous path" I have a feeling something very bad will happen to Kat. Not sure about Garland. If I recall correctly, he was very frustrated with the way things were working "politically" with his peers and/or bosses so maybe he just decides to get out of it? But those are just wild guesses.
@A - yes, it will be interesting to see who replaces them. I suspect they may go back to not having the Deputy Chief being listed as a regular (like in the Peter Gallagher days). I'm more interested in seeing who will be the new detective on the team, assuming of course that there will be one!
They were down a detective (actually two since Olivia is a supervisory commanding officer) and now we're down again. Was Kat even formerly promoted to Detective? I can't remember. I wish there were clearer explanations for why people are taken off of t.v. shows.
According to Info that got it from someone who got info from Someone Working on the Set. Quote "Nope. Referencing the person from my first comment: everybody said Jamie was a delight to work with because she never was late to film, always knew her lines, came to table readings, was incredibly kind and polite to cast and crew, and was always down to earth. Someone from the main cast has issues with newcomers, especially if they're younger and women allegedly. And that someone also had well over 30% crew fired in the last couple years. But take this with a grain of salt since it's a couple people's words while everyone else from the show either keeps quiet, reiterates the "higher authority decision" line or praises Jamie for her work so far". Also Apparently this happened when they were filming the 4th Episode.
Heres an article on barnes https://deadline.com/2021/09/demore-barnes-reacts-law-order-svu-exit-1234838730/ in this season there will be a new setective Octavio Pisano plays Detective Joe Velasco will be recurring in first 2 eps then promoted to regular
What are your theories on how they will leave?

ReplyDeleteSucks to hear, but I wish both actors well with whatever they do next. Question now is, will others be taking their places?
ReplyDeleteAnd the cast gets even smaller. (Again)

ReplyDeleteWhy did they leave?
ReplyDeleteJamie stated it was not her choice. Demore has not issued a statement as of today (due to a death in the family) but one should be coming soon.

ReplyDelete@Eldridge - Kat was promoted in the episode "Our Words Will Not Be Heard" which aired in April 2021.
