  2. Julie Martin, SVU producer, tweeted that Raul would not be in 19, but in ep. 20-23

  3. I'm always THRILLED to see Kevin Tighe; he's an amazing actor and can do darn-near any role. I'm also happy when Mariska directs.

For those wondering about times when a specific character is missing from an episode, that's a common way a series controls costs. Most actors are contracted for a specific number of episodes in a series per season. This is part of the budgeting process; the showrunner and writers work with these parameters in mind.

While we would all LOVE to see the entire ensemble in every episode, it's difficult to do from a budgetary perspective. The spec script I had written for the show was for the entire ensenble, and while I had been VERY careful to "group" everything in ways that could mitigate as must of the cost as possible, word on the street was 'there's nothing wrong with your writing but it's too expensive to do this.'

Just wanted to share that info, to try and clear up the mystery of why certain characters aren't on the show every single episode.

Also, it can sometimes mean they're doing another project we'll really enjoy, and that commitment has taken them away from SVU for an ep or two.

  4. Chris, Amy word on when the finale will air? I've seen a couple mentions on social media but no date.

  5. @ladybug81 NBC hasn't come out with the finale dates for any of their main shows. I think they usually come out with that info sometimes between mid-March and mid-April. Based on past history, it will likely be May 18 or May 25. (My money is on May 18 but that's only a guess!) Stay tuned, as soon as I know I'll post the official date!

  6. @Chris Thanks! I couldn't find where it had been announced but had seen a few vague comments about it. I guess they're are just guessing what week it is. I figured the 18th or 25th but am leaning toward the 25th.

  7. Cardinal that's very interesting info you posted about budgeting within a scripted show like SVU. Ice-T has been absent for several episodes( with virtually no explanation on the show for Finn's disappearance). We all know his wife Coco gave birth to their lovely daughter Chanel. I think Ice-T's name is still in weekly credits. I hope he's getting paid despite his absence- he's got a growing family to support!

  8. OhS, it is entirely possible he wanted to take some time to be with Coco and Chanel. Sometimes, actors *are* paid despite being absent -- it all depends on what their representation has negotiated with the show's Executive Producer.

I hope it's been 'bonding time' for Ice, Coco and Chanel. <3 Such a WONDERFUL family!

The future showrunner's name sounds very familiar to me. I'll have to hit IMDB.com and refresh my memory.

  9. Ice t is paid whether or not he is in a episode so him not being there is not a budget issue.

  10. This could be about the push in rapist.

  11. My guess is Carisi in body bag!

  12. @Kj P - I don't really know, they haven't listed his character's names as yet. But if I recall correctly, he was going to be charged with kidnapping and rape in Avatar so if he was found guilty, I'm not sure he'd be out of prison by now.
