I'm NOT trying to be snarky here, I want to be clear on that. My question is, how many times has Liv been taken hostage?
ReplyDeleteToo many to count. Frankly I'm getting sick of it. We get it, Olivia is not immune to danger. She's been kidnapped about a dozen times, held at knife or gunpoint, and almost raped. The only thing that hasn't happened to her is getting shot. And I'm not talking about the episode where she is wearing a bulletproof vest and is taken down by machine gun fire. Elliot, Alex, Fin, Munch, Amanda, Lake, and Nick have all gotten shot and ended up in the hospital.
DeleteWhy can't it be one of the guys in danger for once? Like Carisi? Or Barba? Or even Fin? I would love to see how they would react.
On the upside Barba is in the episode.
On another note Barba has been in exactly half the episodes this season so far.
@Cardinal & Abby, yes, they have gone to this well far too many times.
ReplyDeleteI recall a two part episode of CSI called "Grave Danger" where Nick Stokes was kidnapped an buried alive. Nobody ever expects the guys to be kidnapped, so this story line was not only a shocker but very disturbing. It was also very well done. It was so outside the stereotypical "woman in danger" story line that it made for highly compelling drama. I;m not saying I want ANYBODY in danger, but the SVU gang, and a lot of other crime shows these days, love to put the women in peril. It gets boring after a while!
That was one of the first CSI episodes I watched.
DeleteI just got done watching SVU seasons 1-12 and it seemed like Olivia and Elliot were the only ones in danger most of the time. Maybe Fin. I don't recall an episode where Munch or Cragen were put in that situation.
Oh add Cassidy to the list of people shot.
Now that I think about it, out of all the longtime reoccurring characters (ones that have been in multiple seasons), Cragen and Barba are the only ones who have never gotten hurt (unless you count the belt stunt).
The show needs more barba-I always feel disappointed when he is not in an episode!!
ReplyDeleteAgreed!!!
DeleteThis episode gonna suck is it
ReplyDeleteI for one, am looking more forward to this episode than the "Catfishing Teacher " one. I am curious as to how they will play this out. Remember "held hostage" is totally different than "kidnapped", so it might be interesting. :)
ReplyDeleteI see Barba is here but this doesn't seem a very court-y episode. This is confusing.
ReplyDeleteI agree with Chris. And was Tarantino who directed that CSI episode, was so tense!!!
ReplyDeleteAnd we need more Barba. He is the best.
Sorry about my broken English...:(
Let's face it, for the amount of times that Olivia has been in peril up until this point they have never gone the distance. They could have gone all the way with Lewis, they even brought him back and really it was all a waste. To make matters worse you truly don't see her dealing with her issues. They gave her a baby to "cure" her woes. This is exactly what is going to happen in this episode. I'm over it.
ReplyDeleteThe outcome is a foregone conclusion as far as Benson is concerned. Zero suspense there. Will the writers *please* stop using the 'Benson-as-victim' trope? We're all tired of it!
ReplyDeleteCarisi would've been an interesting choice to be taken hostage! Would've made for a fun Carisi-centric episode ;). The framing of Cragen at the end of season 13 was inspired. WL et al. should be doing more of that.
This was the most emotionally draining episodes I have watched in a while... That Joe Reegan is either a very good actor or an actual psychopath... Still traumatised by that rape incident... It's one thing to watch an episode where there is a victim of rape.. It's a whole different story to hear the rape happen..
