"My life is perfect" ?? Are they actually making her say this? This show is losing all my respect.
ReplyDeletepetra, i think it means that she's happy with the job she has now and doesn't want anything to change :)
ReplyDeleteI'm just so bummed about them dropping that storyline I take everything personally these days. I find it so disrespectful that they couldn't even show us something hinting to her struggling/dealing/not dealing with it. It wouldn't have had to take more than a second to show some sort of reaction in one or two scenes. I have (or rather had) higher expectations for my #1 show :(
ReplyDeleteSo here we are today's the day where all will be revealed.
ReplyDeleteLike many others I've been back and forth on what will happen changing my mind several times in the process.
I've finally settled on Amaro leaving but not dying.
I've wondered about the inclusion of Carisi from the moment he started.
Why bring in another detective especially when they rotated the detectives throughout episodes?
WL admitted in that piece in The Examiner that it was a budget measure so why hire another actor to start with unless he's going to be an eventual full time replacement?
Chris Meloni's abrupt departure caused a furore the likes of which they won't want to repeat.
It's possible DP let the powers that be know at the end of S15 that S16 would be his last.
Maybe it's just been my imagination but apart from one episode Amaro has been on the back burner this year.
Has this all been a weaning process from one character to another?
Both Amaro's "families" moving to California. More subtle preparation for his departure?
The whole Sergeant thing has likely been a red herring.
WL mentioned a connection back to Amaro's first episode and it's hard to think of what that connection might be. It was pretty much a case driven episode.
Tying in with the family theme is that small but significant moment that was never explained when Amaro decides not to put Zara's photo on his desk. I have often wondered about that.
I will very happily be proven wrong. Amaro is my favourite character and I adore Danny Pino so believe me I want to be wrong. I sincerely hope I am.
Not long now.

ReplyDeleteI agree with you. I have never been this invested in a character, so if Danny is leaving, I am going to go through a mourning process, haha. Comments like "the squad will be changed forever" and the whole character death thing does have me feeling uneasy.
I saw the article that WL mentioned echoing back to Amaro's first episode, and like the crazed person I have become, I had to rewatch it last night and the only thing I could glean from it was the photo of Zara and the phone call from Maria. Since Maria has been MIA all season aside from the occasional mention, I can't see her being involved. I do think he will eventually choose to leave to be with his kids. Both of them being in Cali was just a little too coincidental and he seems too excited about the sergeant exam for them to let him have it, though I really think he deserves it. WL also mentioned that the Rollaro story will factor in and we will have a sense of where that relationship is going. Would he word it that way if Amaro was going to die? I don't think so, but I could be wrong. I am shocked they are including Rollaro, but glad they are finally giving it closure (which is where I see that going). If he stays, they can't be together and even if they could, she probably would never go for being with a superior given her past in ATL. And if he leaves, I don't see this being a long distance thing. It didn't work with Maria and Amanda doesn't seem to be the type to go for that. It would have been nice to see more development in that "relationship" since most are confused as to what is going on. And thinking in terms of tugging at heart stings, his death or departure would have been made more dramatic if we actually knew their true feelings for each other. Maybe they will explain tonight.
I hope they have fooled us all, but we shall soon see what is in store.
Hugs to all the Amaro fans!
I think it will be Tucker that dies.
ReplyDeleteHe had a few appearances this last season. Brief but notable and he was nice. Why soften up the character after all these years?
He's a major enough character who has figured in the SVU landscape since the beginning and if killed off would certainly give enough shock value.
If it's just Johnny D and the hostage that die who's going to care about that.
It would have to be someone that the SVU audience has come to know over time to have an impact.
