  3. I'm starting to really be fed up with this show, at this point it aggravates me more than it brings enjoyment so I really should just quit but I'm too invested & still want to love it as much as I did back in S13/14/15. I'm going to keep my hope for S17 and try n pretend S16 never happened (it's not like Amanda's rape storyline mattered much anyways - right writers!? un-frickin-believable)

  4. Don't you have to be a Captain first before you can become a Lieutenant? Or do I have it backwards?

  5. A Captain is a higher rank than a Lieutenant.

  6. I continue to become more and more concerned about the future of one of my favorites, Nick Amaro. I have this terrible feeling this episode is only going to further the idea that he should move. I hope I am just being paranoid, but I haven't heard anything about Danny or Kelli's return. Nothing has been hinted at for her, but that whole CA thing for him has me holding my breath.

  7. I think Benson being promoted to Lieutenant when she hasn't been a Sergeant very long is stretching things a bit. Talk about fast tracking. This is TV land though not the real world.

As far as Amaro is concerned the writers are being either very clever or devious. They know there's chatter about whether or not Amaro will return.

They've set this up rather well so whatever Danny Pino decides to do they can go either way.

This episode sounds like it's going to focus in particular on Amaro investigating this case of an abducted child.

He will either be convinced by the events in this case to be a committed, present Dad (i.e. he moves to California) or he does such a good job he will be considered for the no doubt, upcoming Sergeant's spot.

That too is a stretch considering it wasn't that long ago he was demoted and was in IAB's bad books. Also he only returned to SVU "conditionally" whatever that was supposed to mean.

If Pino stays then Amaro is the most likely candidate for the No. 2 spot as the seed that Fin wouldn't want it has already been planted.

Also if I can be cynical for a moment I think Benson is the only character who will be allowed to be a parent so Amaro's young kids had to go.

The thing is going on Amaro's performance as a cop throughout Seasons 13 & 14 I could see him being promoted. Now though it hardly seems warranted due to his less than illustrious behaviour of recent times.

The whole California thing could be a red herring.

    Like I said TV Land.

  8. Another thing if Amaro stays and becomes Sergeant it gets the writers out of the Rollaro corner they painted themselves into.

They started this "relationship" between Amaro & Rollins on the fly and are now regretting it. There wasn't a thought out plan and they didn't know where it was going.

They did cleverly weave it into the narrative for both characters with that fight in the bar but then dropped the ball and pretended it had gone away.

If Amaro becomes the squad's Sergeant then whatever might be going on between Amaro & Rollins (if anything) would have to end.

It's one thing to have them as colleagues and peers doing the horizontal tango another altogether to have a Sergeant sleeping with a subordinate.

I think we're supposed to assume it was two people reaching out to each other during their respective personal crises and it has now cooled off with them being simply colleagues and friends.

  9. @ Cath T

I really think you are correct on all counts. Maybe they are banking on us thinking he is leaving. And it would be so sad if they are having his children move away so we can only focus on Liv and her family. Nick Amaro was always such a good father even in the middle of all his personal turmoil, his love for his children and concern for them always came first.

I also completely agree with what you said about the writers possibly using his promotion as a way to get themselves out of the Rollaro corner they put themselves in. It really is quite a shame because there was a lot of potential there if they just tried to give it some substance. That bar fight was such a great set up for their personal stories, but then they dropped it all together. And now, they seem to add just a little bit of Rollaro into episodes almost to string us along so that they could keep them an "item" when and if it suits their purposes. We may never get true clarity on the situation.

    We shall see what happens.
