MARCIA CROSS AND ROBERT VAUGHN GUEST STAR
ON “LAW & ORDER: SVU” FEBRUARY 25

Television star Marcia Cross and film legend Robert Vaughn will guest star as husband and wife on “Law & Order: SVU.” The episode, titled “December Solstice,” will air Wednesday, Feb. 25 at 9pm ET/PT on NBC. This is Vaughn’s second guest appearance on “SVU,” and Cross’ first role on television since “Desperate Housewives.”

This episode explores the complications of the dynamics of family power with adult children and younger wives, and the role reversing sexual pressures on older men with younger spouses. Cross guest stars as Charmaine Briggs, the sixth wife of celebrated novelist Walter Briggs (Vaughn). When Walter’s daughters accuse their stepmother of sexually abusing their ailing father, a furious legal battle ends in tragedy. The episode will also guest star Susie Essman (“Curb Your Enthusiasm”), Emily Bergl (“Shameless,” “Desperate Housewives”) and Oscar winner Mercedes Ruehl (“The Fisher King”).

“We are lucky to have Robert Vaughn as a proud lion in late winter, and Marcia Cross as his sixth and most beautiful wife,” Executive Producer Warren Leight explains. “They make a terrific SVU couple….with all that entails.”

As Bree Van De Kamp on “Desperate Housewives,” Cross received an Emmy nomination for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series and three Golden Globe nominations for Best Performance by an Actress in a Television Series Comedy. Prior to “Desperate Housewives,” she starred as Dr. Linda Abbott on The WB’s critically acclaimed series, “Everwood.” She is also well known from her role as Dr. Kimberly Shaw on the hit drama “Melrose Place.” Born and raised in Marlborough, Massachusetts, Cross was accepted at the Juilliard School at the age of 18 as a Drama major. Aside from her successful career as an actress, Cross has also earned a Master’s Degree in Psychology.

Vaughn has appeared in over one hundred motion pictures and was honored with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 1998. Introduced in 1956 by Columbia Studios in the film “No Time To Be Young,” Vaughn went on to receive an Academy Award nomination in 1959 for his work with Paul Newman in “The Young Philadelphians,” a British Oscar nomination for his performance in “Bullitt,” and an Emmy award for his portrayal as a presidential henchman in “Washington: Behind Closed Doors.” He starred for four years as Napoleon Solo in “The Man From U.N.C.L.E.,” which received the Hollywood Foreign Press Association’s Golden Globe as the most popular television show in the world. During this time, Vaughn was the recipient of the Photoplay Gold Medal Award as the most popular actor in America. He received a second Emmy nomination for his portrayal of Woodrow Wilson in the miniseries “Backstairs at the White House.” Vaughn received his Ph.D. from the University of Southern California and his book, “Only Victims,” a study of show business blacklisting, is considered one of the definitive works in the field. His most recent writing effort, “Christ, Hamlet, Ho Chi Min: As I Knew Them” will be published in the near future.

"Law & Order: Special Victims Unit" is a Wolf Films production in association with Universal Television. Dick Wolf is creator and executive producer. Warren Leight, Julie Martin, Jonathan Starch and Peter Jankowski are executive producers.
