Wow pregnancy!! Can't wait to see how this turns out
ReplyDeleteAnd I say NO WAY! If there's a Bensidy baby brewing I might just be out (okay I probably won't be but that's how upset that would make me).
ReplyDeleteOlivia doesn't need a baby - not in the mess she's in right now; PTSD, wine, Cassidy, new responsibility at work. And not ever cause women don't need babies to fulfill a life, SVU is Liv's baby. Calvin could have happen, that was good timing and all but now.. I know she's not too old (Laura Linney!) but yes she's too old.
Please let there not be a baby. Babies kill shows too (In Plain Sight RIP)
@Petra S- Yes I agree with you, but I have to disagree about Calvin. Let's face it he's not going to come back he's with his grandparents that storyline is over.
ReplyDeleteThe wine doesn't mean she's an alcoholic. So she was working on her second bottle, that doesn't make her an alcoholic. She never appears to be drunk.. SVU needs to stop with personal soap opera storyline lines it's running SVU.
The writers need to stop reading fanfiction, and get back to the way SVU was.
@jechelle Clark- It's not going to happen, I wouldn't get to excited. There's already too much stress her life.. Olivia's pregnancy would only work in fanfiction not in reality on the show.
ReplyDeleteIt actually would be terrible, we've already had three people leave the show. mariska said she stay until SVU is over, but you cannot phase out Olivia.
What are we going to hear Olivia yelling at Cassidy who is she is pregnant will leave her and will refused to be a dad to the kid; about child support???
Cassidy is never there and he's not the type of guy that could be a father
The whole 'possible pregnancy' reminds me of a similar storyline from "The Closer"...the lead female character thinks she may be pregnant, but, no..it's: MENOPAUSE.
ReplyDeleteDarla, funny you say that, menopause was the first thing that came to my mind too!
ReplyDeleteYeah it could be menopause or she is really pregnant. But let's see what happens next week.
ReplyDeleteOh she may be pregnant? I didn't even realize she and Cassidy were having sex. I thought menopause as well but can a 45 year old, my mistake, 46 year old woman experience menopause at that age? Seriously, a legitimate question BC I have no idea the ages a woman gets menopause. I know my grandma is 55 and she still gets her reg cycle. She often prays that menopause comes soon though. Lol
ReplyDeleteFred - symptoms of menopause can start sometimes as early as 40. It would not be abnormal for a woman's Benson's age to begin to have an irregular cycle, which could trigger a woman to think she is pregnant if her period is later or is missed.
ReplyDeleteI feel for your grandmother. I used to hope for menopause because my doctor told me my migraines would stop at that time. (The migraines still occur. All that wishing for nothing!)
Geez that's way early. Thank you for the knowledge Chris and I will be sure to let her know about the migranes, maybe she'll stop complaining every month about wanting menopause so bad. Plus I looked it up (the symptoms) and you get really bad hot flashes.
ReplyDeleteOh come on, give a gal a break! Kidnap/torture, problematic love affair, losing 2 co-workers, possible early alcoholism, two friends leave the ceremony just as she's getting her sgt. certificate...and now the Murphy Brown thing??? Dumdumdumdumdum...(shark-jump theme from "Jaws") Poor Liv is turning into a one-woman soap opera!
ReplyDeleteShe won't be pregnant. My heart breaks for her because we all know how much Olivia wanted kids, but I don't think it's very realistic to bring that into the storyline at this point. Not because she and Brian aren't intimate (they're a couple, they live together, helllooo)but because she's too old and she's been through too much already. This is just a way to either push her relationship with Brian to a more solid place, or make them realize their relationship isn't working. Personally, I'm pulling for those two, baby or not. Brian seems committed (leaving her notes, taking care of dinner) despite having crazy hours and not being home often. I don't think the wine thing from last week will go anywhere; she was just stressed. I'm not so sure about Rollins, though. Like others,I had Sonya flashbacks when I saw her sipping down her drink at the ceremony. I was also disappointed not to find out what Liv and Maria talked about on the phone. Hopefully that comes up again next week.
ReplyDeleteNot because she and Brian aren't intimate (they're a couple, they live together, helllooo)but because she's too old and she's been through too much already"
ReplyDeleteIt is obvious but I figured since the attack, they weren't having sex. I thought that WL and team would have made that known since their major purpose of having Liv go through the Lewis thing was to "walk the walk" like other survivors. Ya know, take us through all the steps of overcoming her assault. But I was off. And I know it's a long shot (but not a rare one) that she's pregnant. But it's believable that even at her age, the stress she's going through, and etc that she can still be pregnant. But.. I seriously doubt that the writers to this route.
What if this is just a dream that Olivia is having, about buying the test.
ReplyDeleteWe've seen her having odd dreams, her kissing her therapist. This could be another one of her dreams/ nightmares.
When I first heard of 'the stick' my mind immediately went to something like Benson finds/sees a stick and it will turn out to be Rollins or something. Then I saw the promo and I was lured in to thinking she's buying it for herself but the more I think about it (and reading TwoP forum) I'm back to she's buying it for someone else and that might just be Rollins. Warren's tweet about Rollins being on a 'bumpy road' after the Olympics sorta adds to that train of thoughts.
ReplyDeleteI'll take about anything but a Bensidy baby tho cause all the non-tween-forums I'm reading just hates the idea of a baby for Benson. With that promo tho there's just no win for Warren & Co.
That's an interesting idea, that the test might be for Rawlins. That would make sense, then, for Olivia to have it at the station and to hide it from Nick. The only thing I'm not sure about is Rawlins confiding in Liv and asking her to buy a test for her. Rawlins hasn't been forthcoming about anything she's going through, and she and Olivia have been in a rocky place for the past few episodes. Hmmm, so much speculation happening for the next five days!
ReplyDeleteAs Amanda's "supervisor," can Liv buy the test and order her to take it?
ReplyDeleteGayle - no she can't. That would be a violation of EEOC employment practices.
ReplyDeleteMany employers can conduct DRUG testing (some test at the time of hire and some do it randomly, and some do both) but even suggesting a pregnancy test could put the employer in legal hot water.
TrueBeliever, I totally agree. Rollins' character is a grown woman. Why in the world would she run 'crying' to Benson and ask her to get her a pregnancy test...maybe in fanfic, but I can't imagine the show would go that route.
ReplyDeleteFor one thing, Liv being pregnant is not impossible, One celebrity had a baby at age 49.
ReplyDeleteIn my opinion, it might change things up a little bit, like How will Liv handle it? She likes being out in the field, but being pregnant could complicate things.
I'm kind of inbetween about the whole thing, I definitely won't stop watching because something I don't like happens.
I would like to see how she would handle pregnancy/motherhood when she is a cop, which is a job that can be quite demanding.
Or will she even keep the baby? If anyone watches Bones, one of the Main characters had a baby in Season 7 and it's now season 9. And, Perhaps this is the Last season for Law & Order: Svu.. If it is, I would generally like to see a happy ending.
The odds of a women in her late 40s conviening a baby naturally are quite small, not impossible though. as for these celeb having kids at 49 odds are they are having some type of medical intervention. Im not interested in watching LAW AND ORDER:LIVS PREGANT. iT WILL ALL BECAME ABOUT LIVES SORE nipples and increasng girth and swollen feet...........no thanks.
ReplyDeleteIt is not impossible, and it's just a tv show, it's not reality. It relates to things that happen in RL, yes.
ReplyDeleteIf you watch the show anymore or not is up to you, big deal. And, in reality how will Liv being pregnant ruin things? Doesn't she deserve something happy after what she's been through? Yes, it's unlikely for a women in her 40s to get pregnant naturally, but it's a tv show.!
And, we don't even know if she is pregnant or not. And, I was only referencing to Bones because It didn't die because of pregnancy. It probably wouldn't change the setting of the show much, if she is pregnant. It will be about the cases, because its a cop show.
I too don't think Rollins would voluntarily turn to Benson to confess, or convey anything. I don't think Rollins have much faith in Benson at all on the personal level. So only way 'the stick' would be for Rollins is if Benson finds out some other way which isn't impossible but now I'm back to thinking it's Liv buying it for herself and she's late either caused by menopause or just plain stress - the latter being my guess. Only three more days until we'll find out. Judging by the forums there's strong opinions both for and against and either way it turns out Warren will be scolded on twitter for sure. The ploy will most likely have the tweens raging when there's no Bensidy baby.

ReplyDeleteI'm calling it right now.
ReplyDeleteThe pregnancy test is either going to be negative or we're going to have to wait until after the Olympics to find out the results are.
P.S. Am I the only one on here hoping that test will come out positive?
Ruby, I just want Benson to be Happy. So, if it makes Benson happy then I want it to be positive.
ReplyDeletePeople are being a little bit too judgmental.
I mean, Olivia doesn't have any family besides a boyfriend... She's committed to her job, and pregnancy could definitely shake things up.
A cop works long hours, a baby would definitely change things.
