Law & Order SVU “Criminal Hatred” Episode Information

Here are the details for a new episode of Law & Order SVU, “Criminal Hatred”:

Law & Order SVU “Criminal Hatred” Air Date January 30, 2013 (9 PM ET/8C Wednesday NBC)

ADA BARBA TRIES A MURDER CASE AGAINST AN UNPREDICTABLE DEFENSE ATTORNEY (GUEST STAR NIA VARDALOS) IN A SHOWDOWN THAT STRETCHES THE BOUNDARIES OF THE LAW.

The SVU detectives go undercover to arrest a man who targets and brutally attacks other men. They gather enough evidence for ADA Barba (Raúl Esparza) to file charges, but the case begins to spiral as he contends with a deceptively tough defense attorney (guest star Vardalos.) Also starring Mariska Hargitay (Detective Olivia Benson), Ice-T (Detective Odafin Tutuola), Danny Pino (Detective Nick Amaro), and Kelli Giddish (Detective Amanda Rollins). Also guest starring Victoria Rowell ("The Young and The Restless") and Fred Norris ("The Howard Stern Show")

  1. WHhich of the detectives are going undercover-and as what?I'm anxious to see this episode. I watched Beautiful Frame again last night. What a well-scripted episode this was.Sometimes its better to watch ti a few days after it airs to get a better sense of the show.I really like Raul Esparza as DA Barba. I saw Live at Lincoln Center on PBS over the holidays. It was a tribute to the late Marvin Hamlisch.Raul Esparza sang like a dream- this man is so talented !His voice is just wonderful.

  2. SVU made 17th in the top 25 Nielson ratings for week ending jan 6th. That was for Presumed Guilty and "the hand". It kept the sites buzzing for ages! Well done.

  3. It is puzzling that the captain, in particular is absent with no mention from any of the detectives.Less so with Sargent Munch, I find.So many times in the past, Cragen himself would mention one of the absent detectives on a course or in court as way of explanation. Its as if they just disappear and are gone entirely- until they show up again. I know they do these tandem episodes every season.

  4. I understand for budget reasons not all the cast is in every episode, but a little mention of them won't go astray. Bit of continuity to explain absence etc

  5. @Kate- It might not even have to do with budget reasons. It could be that both actors Florck and Belzer just want to work parttime.

The writers cannot explain everything to us why Munch and Cragen aren't there. Sometimes they leave that part up to our imaginations.. Not everything in a tv series gets explained

  6. Is Munch even on the show anymore? He hasn't appeared in like 6 episodes in a row. Why is he in the opening credits if he doesn't appear in half the episodes? The EM even appears more than him (I would rather have Rodgers, anyway). What poor writing. At least the Mothership didn't pull stuff like this! I want the mothership back, not this wreck!

  7. Sean, I think many fans wish they knew what was going on with both Belzer and Florek's absences. I suspect that they remain in the title credits - despite not appearing in the episode - due to contractual issues.

  8. What were they all looking at when they all turned their heads at the end of the episode. This was right after the ADA said "he hates himself. "

  9. Vini - the court officer had walked Jeremy off in that direction. They were are basically staring in that direction.
