  1. Sigh... what else were we supposed to expect from Leight...

  2. I will say this, at least LOCI is ending on the right foot and not just being cancelled like L&O, LOLA, and TBJ.

I will truly miss D'Onofrio/Erbe and this show, but I've got at least 150 eps. featuring them to choose from. Not enough, but way better than just 22.

  3. Glad CI is ending on the good foot unlike the other L&O series.

I'm gonna miss D'Onofrio and Erbe!

  8. @T'Jara: Leight left at the end of season seven of 'CI'. He returned this year to replace Neal Baer as showrunner of 'SVU'. The current showrunner for 'CI' is Chris Brancato.

  9. *Leight is replacing Baer as of season 13, beginning this autumn, I mean.

  10. gahks - I think Tjara was referring to the shrink session topics being addressed in the promo. Leight is writing those according to Brancato.

  11. Leight also wrote entire episodes. For instance, the writing credit for Trophy Wine is Leight.

  12. Well now we know how to spell Paula Gyson. Thats one advantage of the cards.

Great to see all the behind the scenes videos on USA too....with Segonzac and now Michael Smith. Having seen their names so often its nice to put a face to them and hear them talk.

  13. I was referring to the shrink session indeed, thanks for clearing that up, Music Wench.

I've really liked the sessions thus far as they were thought provoking and interesting.

But I should've known that Leight wasn't gonna handle the Eames topic as ambiguous as I would've liked. On two occasions, he's made and open reference to a romantic relationship between Goren and Eames (Untethered + Frame), so I should've known it was coming. I'm still upset it's there, as I do not think this question will be answered to anybody's liking and IMHO is quite "dangerous".

  14. I am in agreement with T'Jara, Leight isn't the greatest of writers IMHO and judging from some of the remarks by those who do fan-fiction. Some of the ideas from those blogs have been incorporated into the show, not good at all, fan fiction is something fan's do for fun and is not serious stuff it doesn't belong on a crime show and Goren and Eames have never shown the slightest interest in each other romantically. Yes he loves her but not in any romantic way, he loves her like a big Brother and that's the way it should be.

  15. Seriously? I must have watched a different show. I saw some things that were on the fence but nothing that quite stated with certainty one way or another.

I enjoyed the way Leight dangled things for fans like he did. It was marvelously ambiguous to me. I personally appreciate Leight and the way he plays with this aspect. Otherwise how boring would it be. lol

Oh well, I trust he will leave it up in the air as he did before. Well, for me anyway. Some people may read more into it.

  16. Lovely, blogger just ate a long comment of mine. Second Try:

I think I'm in agreement with Music Wench here. I can see why people would interpret the B/A-relationship either romantically or not, but I do not ship myself. On any show, by the way, so this has very little to do with Bobby and Alex. What I do dislike is when shippers make the B/A-relationship the only focus on the show, a lens through which everything is judged, but that's more related to the fact that I prefer discussing other aspects of the show as well - sometimes with the Bobby/Alex lens, sometimes without it. I like to peel away the layers.

But because I do not ship, I'd like TPTB NOT TO address the topic one way or the other on the show. In ten years, they've mostly tethered on the brink of going either way, and I've enjoyed this openess in interpreting the B/A-relationship. It has, in effect, made both groups of fans happy.

IMHO, this "Do you love her?"-question, however, might ruin this ambiguity once and for all. If his reaction is explosive, that might be interpreted both ways, but isn't necessarily good, because he should be comfortable enough with his shrink to not react that way but to tell the truth... now, if we, just for a minute, assume he finally does answer that question, eiher anwer will hurt one group of fans. If he says "Yes.", the non-shippers will be offended, if he says "No." or "Only as a friend." the shippers' hearts will break. There's no scenario to make all fans happy, and this is the last season, I would really like all of us to walk away happy from this.

Just remember some of the comments after VDO recently said he did not see a romantic relationship between them. Some shippers really were hurt by that, and I can understand why. That comment of his' also makes me really wonder about that particualr shrink session.

The "Do you love her?"-question is also why I have, in the past, disliked how Leight has handled shipping on the show. Now I liked Blindspot, Silencer, Brother's Keeper - subtle and open to interpretation. I've absolutely disliked "Untethered" and "Frame" because the romantic relationship was implicated by characters who have very little insight into Bobby and Alex, and therefore, it made the remarks seem forced. It's like being hit over the head with a baseball bat... plus the fact, that I rather not have their relationship be the focus on the show in a romantic way. It's bye-bye ambiguity.

... I simply always thought that shipping was MUCH MORE TELLING when it was happening on a more subtle scale, like "FPS" (throwing that piece of paper, rushing to see Alex after she's given birth) or "Last Street in Manhattan" (meat-market comment, lucky Nicky).

Now this time, the remark comes from someone who knows Bobby. This puts a different weight on it and I am very worried that the ambiguity might go out the window once and for all. This is CI's last season, which I've really enjoyed thus far, and I'd hate to have that swan song contain some wrong tunes. As I said, I'd like us all to be happy. I know shippers and non-shippers who share my feelings - all they want is to keep that ambiguity so we all can look back at it and interpret it our way.

Sorry, been rambling, but that topic has really been dear to my heart.

  17. Don't worry Tjara, with all the heavy editing on this promo, it could turn out to be much ado about nothing. We've been thrown off by promo editing before. Heck, parts of it may not even end up in the final product - as we've seen before.

I guess I trust Leight to not ultimately go there considering the show really isn't supposed to be about romance at all.

I never ship but G/E intrigue me on some level. I prefer to keep that aspect in fan fiction, however and keep the show free of that. I don't want to see ANY romance. Not between G/E or with them and anyone else.

This promo just stirs up more discussion, IMO. That's probably why it was edited the way it was. lol

  18. I remember other previews that got people wound up,only to find they werent even aired in the show itself.

Its a marketing ploy to get maximum attention and people watching.

  19. As others have said, we've had previews before with scenes that weren't actually in the show. As a dedicated Non-Shipper (it would be like Bobby getting down with his sister; YUCK!), it will be interesting to see this (or not!) in context.

  20. The outcome of Trophy Wine will certainly give Goren something to think about before his next session with the doctor: disaster in a parallel relationship to his with Eames caused by too much openness. Two couples where the women (Avery/Alex) have long blonde hair, are in long-term faithful relationships - well, one-sided in A&B's case ("11-12 years" for G&E, 10 for Avery and Bing, where one member of each couple has a secret. Avery spilled hers to a husband who took advantage of it; Goren's secret is still from himself, but he must have suspicions by now. (Compare how he and Eames react when the drama-student/call-girl tries describing Bing as being like an uncle: sure.) If he ends up going where the doctor seems to be pointing, it's going to change everything, especially if he tells Eames. He's probably already imagining the possible results: A roll of the eyes and "Bobby, you really, really have to get out more" is the best he can hope for if she isn't interested. Or she decides she can't work with a guy bravely dealing with rejection and decides to go back to vice? And if she is interested, has just been half waiting all these years for him to grow up? How do they work that out while continuing to work together?

He may decide that some questions are best left unanswered and get through the final two sessions by talking about how Capt. Ross was the good father he'd never had, and "come to realize" that people with special gifts cannot expect all the ordinary things in life that he thinks he's missing.

  21. The head shrinker and the off-beat troubled police detective. I preferred Madeleine Stowe and Jeff Goldblum in Raines. THAT show had some imagination and a sense of humor.I wish the powers that be at Universal/NBC/USA net had put Raines on the USA channel.
