Hey!

I'm doing some research for a paper, and I've been looking around for the episode where McCoy sends a father to jail, even though he knows that the father is really just going to jail for his daughter's crime. Do you remember that episode name, by any chance?

The only episode I can think of that sounds like that was the Law & Order episode "Panic" (season 10, episode 13).

The episode was about a best selling writer who gets shot and her female friend who was with her was killed. They think it was because the writer was having an affair with another man who was helping her with research on her book. It turns out that it wasn't an affair with another man, it was with another woman (her friend) and the husband said he did it because he was upset over their lesbian relationship. But he didn't really do it, it was their daughter who did it and he pleads guilty anyway so his daughter won't have to go to jail for the crime.

Added another video - it's the SVU #CrossoverWeek Sneak Peek video. It's a "first look" promotional video. Enjoy!

What about "Denial" (season eight)? McCoy jails Warren Talbert for contempt when he refuses to testify (with immunity) about what he knows about the death of his daughter's newborn in a hotel room; he claims he found the baby dead from natural causes but the ME says that the baby was strangled.

The daughter and boyfriend are acquitted because Talbert's refusal to testify creates reasonable doubt that he strangled the child. Schiff eventually orders McCoy to release Talbert and not pursue obstruction charges against him.

Good James Rebhorn episode, to boot.

Thanks so much, Chris an Dewie! Both episodes are just perfect. Chris, by the way - that's exactly the one I was looking for! You're the man.

I love this site too, by the way. I'm in law school and I'm learning the rules to evidence, so the courtroom scenes are always a blast to analyze.

Thanks again
