Vincent wanted to leave...

We don't really know that for sure... Vince could have be ultimated... 1) the door or 2) leave by choice, which is what Vincent did.

USA/NBC-U don't tell the whole story and neither would d'Onofrio!

Erbe and Bogosian were forced the 1st option.

DOES IT MATTER? USA and Dick Wolf made NO attempts to try and keep them!

SHAME ON YOU USA NETWORK, SHAME ON YOU! CANCEL LAW & ORDER: CRIMINAL INTENT!

I heard all three were forced out. But that's neither here, nor there.

Thank you for the clips! I hope the casefile turns out to be good, and not a complete dud. I'm definitely going to miss G and E, but at least I won't have to watch this crappy show anymore. It reminds me of when I quit watching Grey's Anatomy, about two years ago (which btw, I hear has gotten worse).

D'Onofrio / Goren is quite possibly the best actor / charactor in the history of law and order. I don't know how CI can be even remotely the same without him.

I find it interesting that many seem to think Jeff Goldblum is selfish for wanting to keep his job. How many of you would leave a job because a co-worker decided to move on?
Vincent D'Onofrio gave 6 great seasons to the show. When he began to influence Warren Leight on story arcs, the show started falling apart. Last season he was just going through the motions.
At the end of last season the plan was to have Kathryn Erbe stay on as Goldblum's partner. It may have been that her payment requirements were not met, so she was written out. It is absurd to think that she left out of a sense of loyalty to D'Onofrio.
Eric Bogosian's elimination from the show came as a surprise to him.
All of the actors on this show, or any other show, prefer to be working actors. Vincent has and has had many other projects during the course of LOCI. He is moving on.
If you choose not to watch after the season premiere, that is a personal decision, but I am looking forward to seeing what the current cast and showrunners bring to the table. It will not be the same show, but it may prove to be worth an hour of my time each week.

For those of you who are behaving childishly or have resorted to name calling or profanity, your comments are being deleted.

I try to respect all opinions but honestly, some of you are really going overboard.

Music Wench said...

I suggest you not allow anonymous comments. That will cut back on the profanity and name calling and fake fans on both sides.

Sadly trolls come around from everywhere to make trouble and it's weird because it happens more on fan sites for shows and actor than on political ones! Or perhaps you can moderate comments. I know it can be a pain but it's made my blog troll free. Mostly the anonymous part. Otherwise you risk the trolls coming around to resort to name calling you and you end up wasting your time having to read and delete them.

And I agree that accusing Goldblum of being selfish and name calling is going overboard. It's just as bad as posting years old fake rumors about Vincent to bring out that kind of behavior.

So will this be their first and last episode??? I knew they were leaving or being "forced out" which sucks but I haven't been following any of the stories.

Music Wench - I have a lot of readers and commenters that don't have Blogger accounts or don't want to sign in with their ID, and that's OK with me. For the most past it is not a problem, it's just that this CI thing because 99% of the time people are civil. is bringing out the worst in some people. I do have the blog moderated so any comment made on a post older than about a week require my OK before posting, so that weeds out the spammers.

To the Anonymou poster who asked if this is their first and last episode, the two parter will be their first and last appearance, although...someone dies (in the first episode)but I can't tell you who!

All things its funny that you delete the posts on here when people are not civil with each other YET when people are bashing the SVU cast you ignore it...hmmm....I guess we know where your love falls. Don't deny it.

Thanks All Things....I will have to set the DVR to record both parts. Its a shame they are leaving but I guess if that is the way it goes. It will be interesting to see the ratings with the new cast. Sometimes the grass isn't always greener on the other side.

Chris Zimmer said...

Cup O Joe...how would yo know that I haven't deleted posts about SVU? If I deleted them they wouldn't be there for you to even see them or know about them.

I don't think the SVU bashing has been anything like what I have been seeing for L&O CI. I have this blog moderated that any comments made after a certain number of days after the blog entry is posted, the messages are not posted until I approve them, and I've been seeing some really nasty, over the top stuff coming from some CI fans that I have been able to stop beforer it gets posted. It's sad really how low some of the fans are going. As I already said, I try to respect all opinions but I do have a limit to what I will accept on my blog.

IMO: I think Jeff Goldblum was selfish taking over the show. I'm gonna draw the line there!

All Things don't stop annonymous comments, I love posting here! Until the freaks come out; they always ruin something.

LOCI is more controversial than SVU/the Mothership combined anyway.

Thanks for having your blog!

THANK YOU for this blog and all of your hard work. I am discerning and have my own STRONG opinions, and whether I agree with you or not, I REALLY am grateful for your work on this blog. BTW, I do agree with your assessments about 90% of the time, but if I didn't, I would still respect you. I am posting this comment with my real name.

BTW, I believe Vince was ready to leave...I wish that Eric and Kathryn could have stayed...I don't agree with every change the L&O franchises have made, but I love the franchise enough to adopt a wait and see attitude.

I yield to no one in my appreciation for the original duo in CI. However, I was pleasantly surprised last season by Jeff Goldblum, for whom it's clear the writers gave the best storylines. I think the incredible story arc intertwining Goren's mother and brother, Nicole Wallace, Declan Gage, and then Roy Scheider's turn as his biological father should have led more quickly to VDO's subsequent departure, as last season his character seemed mostly to be flailing with no focus.

Except for SVU, all the L&O's have experienced major cast changes, just as the personnel in any office changes. It's fine, the show will still be good, it's probably only got a season or two left -- let it go!

Kelly said...

John, I agree! I didn't like Goldblum at first - he seemed to be trying too hard to be Goren, but I really appreciate him now. I like Nichols and Eames, but the other female leads are weak. I agree that this franchise might not be around much longer, and I hope that it goes out on a high note. It saddens me, though, because I love the complexity of the cases (especially serial killers such as Nicole Wallace, and how Goren's paternity and issues parallel Olivia's on SVU).

Season 9 is fine.

Goldblum is fine.

D'Onofrio might come back as a guest. Fans try hard enough they can get him back full time with Goldblum again.

We have excellent episodes written for Jeff Goldblum. But if you wish to go with Vince D'Onofrio it's fine... the show must go on.

Olympic Skier Lindsey Vonn will guest star in the two-part season FINALE of "Law & Order" on NBC. The first part episode is not named yet but the last part episode is named, "Rubber Room" Where Lupo and Cutter get a little too close and too personal.

janethyland said...

Is this really you?
If so,I respect the fact you came here as yourself.Thats an honesty in itself.

Sadly,"Fine" is not why I started watching LOCI,however much it suits as entertainment in the Wolf Franchise. And 3.56 with 1.1 in the key demo is not good for a Premiere.Whatever the excuses, people made an active choice to watch something else.

Music Wench said...

Hanging the carrot of Vincent returning isn't enough to keep me watching. And we are leaving with Vincent. And to whoever said get over it, we will be over it when Vincent leaves.

I haven't seen excellent since season 7 so I don't expect to see any here on out. I did finally watch the season premiere and am not impressed.

We tried to keep Vincent and it didn't do any good!

My hair is fine, I want intriguing.

For those of you who are watching this thread, Walon Green above commented on March 31 that the L&O finale was titled "Rubber Room." The New York Post reported today that the episode was inspired by a story of rubber rooms - so clearly the person who posted the message on March 31 has some inside details.
